BIGTRUCK Posted May 6, 2024 Posted May 6, 2024 I started up a 1929 Ford like the ones they use for The Race Of Gentlemen in Jersey. I always enjoy seeing the cars and bikes they run out there on the coast. Kit is the AMT 29 Ford ( the issue with some Aka Kart parts in it ) '32 grille frame, some speed part came in the kit but the intake was gone for the 2 carb setup, so I borrowed the one from the original AlaKart kis '29 and made a resin copy. I also opted for '32 wheels and tires as the tall skinny ones from the 29 didnt work for me, but as time goes on I may change back.
Straightliner59 Posted May 7, 2024 Posted May 7, 2024 I like it, Ken! I could see a case for either set of wheels/tires. The '32s look good!
Mr. Metallic Posted May 7, 2024 Posted May 7, 2024 Off to a great start. I believe the Model A wheels are illegal at TRoG You could join in on the 2024 group build...

BIGTRUCK Posted May 8, 2024 Author Posted May 8, 2024 I changed tires for the last time, the rears are slightly taller and wider and both front and rear actually look better to me. I also decided to add the hood so it needed a cut-out for sure. I may paint the hood as a work in progress. Chassis was painted Maroon then hit with dull coat. Body is Racing White that will get a satin coat once the decals are on. I dont usually coat over decals but Im afraid of ghosting like I got once with dull coat, not sure about satin .. 1

Do you, by any chance mean silvering? That occurs with decals over flat paint. Armor and Aircraft modelers will usually shoot a coat of gloss, before applying decals, then flat coat, afterwards, to eliminate silvering, which occurs because of air trapped between the decal film, and the rough, uneven surface of matte paint. I don't know if that's what you're experiencing, but it sounds like it might be?
BIGTRUCK Posted May 9, 2024 Author Posted May 9, 2024 Yes thats what I mean, a light fog around the image.. 11 hours ago, Straightliner59 said: Do you, by any chance mean silvering? 1
