Small block Chevy engine with A/C compressor.

Hi.  I'm attempting to build a replica of a family member's 1963 Impala SS from the AMT kit.  One problem I'm having is the car has 1963 factory air.  I'm not going to attempt the dash outlets, but I'd like to get the engine close.  The 1:24 kit comes with a 409, obviously without air.  The car has a small block.  Can anyone help me & advise of a kit that has a small block Chevrolet engine with an air conditioning compressor?  I don't know GM engines very well - but if a Pontiac, Buick, or Oldsmobile small block is similar I'd go with a small block A/C engine from one of those brands too.  Thank you!

The Revell 71 Olds kits have a very similar AC compressor and I believe the AMT 72 chevy trucks have a belt arrangement that would work.

That's an aftermarket a/c compressor., not stock for that car.

^^ What Sean said. That's a factory A/C car with a modern compressor and R-134a conversion.

Model Car Garage has a PE fret with A/C outlets. You could probably use those and some tubing to make the dash vents  or something close.

Absolutely correct; this car is not a garage queen although it doesn't see snow & it rarely sees rain.  It's driven when it needs to be driven.  The original A/C compressor went south, so he bought the replacement & fabricated a mounting bracket.  I'm really only concerned with having a compressor in the correct location on the engine.

I don't have a full pic of the Chevy, but here's a partial with one of its 2 garage mates: '31 (I believe - or '32) Ford coupe.  Same engine as in the Impala, 350 SBC.  It also has air - & most definitely is aftermarket...?

Edit: The A/C compressor is #8 and is on the wrong side if that matters to the OP. The engine is a 454 big block, but I don’t see why the pulley system couldn’t be transferred to a small block.

That might be the ticket - A/C is definitely in the right spot, it also has a P/S pump.  Thanks Monte, Nobling!

Good catch!  Next time I'll actually grab a kit out of storage and open it before answering since my memory doesn't seem to be as good as I thought.

Actually, the A/C compressor (#10) and alternator are reversed compared to your photo. You could maybe swap them, or just use the hoses from the Monte.
