JollySipper Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 Hello, fellows! I recently started working on the Yenko Camaro from AMT. Upon mock-up, I found that the chassis just kinda flops around under the body..... Sitting the model down then picking it up, there's about a half-inch of play there. I'm wondering..... what have some of you done to fix this? The interior kinda just does what it wants, too. I can tell very easily that this is an older tool, just hoping someone has come up with a solution for this......... Thanks, guys........
slusher Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 I have had models with loose chassis but when finished I glued it in at the end of the build. Really to be honest you need to build the Revell kit..
NOBLNG Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 (edited) I haven’t built the AMT kit, so this is just spit-balling.? I have glued blocks inside bodies to keep the interior tub from sliding back and forth. I have also drilled through the floorpan and into a block of evergreen to install a pin. Then the floorpan will go back in the same location every time you trial fit the assembly. Hope this helps.? Edited May 30, 2024 by NOBLNG 1 1
espo Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 I have also used the method Greg mentioned to even mount bumpers and grills in older kits that didn't have real good mounting points to glue to. 90-degree angle styrene from Plastruct or Evergreen are readily available and work well. 1
bobss396 Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 I do the same thing. Everything is pinned so it goes together the same way. I will have a body off a car quite a few times during a build. The worst case is the MPC modified kits. There is nothing that makes the assembly easy. 1
