TNT Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 This has been sitting for a bit. Mixed a custom paint. Valejo gold, silver, 2 greens, and a bit of black. Was going daily driver, but it does not work in my brain. Can't mix n match rims n tires they are all different ID and OD. So looking at the thunder hood i wondered why they just do not mold them open. Cut it open so now it will have the thunder hood and motor but more of a street build. Going to be a flat black hood. I have always liked the old school flat black hoods from yesteryear. Took decals from another kit. Think it was from the Trucks line of kits. 4
espo Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 Like the paint color and finish. Don't know if you are even considering a screen for the hood vents, but I have used a simple repair kit for a home screen door for a source and that proved to be very flexible to conform to the curved opening and some Revell Contacta Clear glue worked well to securing the screen. Those decals should look good.

They have stainless mesh screens used by people who build their own coils and it’s only like $3-$5 for 5 pieces.

The paint and brougham vinyl top was nice but the green they used on the interior was sorta ugly. But it was a very cool metal flake green paint. Not a very good car for getting your permit in the back window was useless. 1

DoctorLarry Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Another source of fine mesh screen is a filter for a Keurig coffee maker. That's what I use for my NASCAR builds/
Chuckyg1 Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 This should be cool. I built one way long ago, it's a good kit. 1
