I just started building the old 1963 version of the Revell Stone, Woods & Cook 1941 Willy's Gasser and the wheels and tires are just not the greatest.  Looking for suggestions for a nice set of aftermarket wheels & tires.  Thank's fellows.

That particular kit is, of course, a model of a very specific, very famous car, and the blown Olds 394 engine makes it a period piece.

That's not to say you can't modify it any way you want to, but with the Olds, it's pretty much either a period car or a "nostalgia" or "tribute" of some sort or another, and wheel choices are limited if you want to keep the period look.

EDIT: The Ardun in your build thread is pretty much a period piece too, but it's your build, so use whatever wheels you like. Those hard-sidewall slicks are on 16" rims on the SWC car, for whatever that's worth.

Thank's Bill.  I'm not really worried about keeping it period correct.  Just want to build a nice looking 41 Willy's Gasser.

If your kit has the two-piece tires and slicks (most Seventies and Eighties issues did) then there's certainly room for improvement.  Just go back to the solid one-piece units that the kit started out with.  The slicks can be found in a bunch of other Revell kits (Ford Thunderbolt, Tommy Ivo Showboat, Tony Nancy 22 Jr) while the fronts are in some issues of the '31 Ford, Anglia, and Thames panel.  The wheels are correct to that car, not much wiggle room there.

Atlantis has retooled similar tires and slicks for their Fiat altered, but those have no lettering.  Revell's are better.

Google is your friend. There are lots of pictures of SWC Gassers with different tire and wheel combinations

Good Luck

Yep there are enumerous combos of wheels and tires on the old gassers but I thought you were going more of a modern gasser with this one.

Just not sure yet Buddy.  The gears are still turning in my head.  Thank's.

That's a sharp looking Willys there.

That's one bad looking 41 Willy's.

Hey Scott......you refer to the red Willy’s as being “at Englishtown”. Those photos are definitely not from Englishtown. While the license plates on the Chevelle and the Willy’s look like New Jersey plates, it’s also not Island Dragway nor Atco. I’m just asking because wherever it is, it looks like they have a very nice pits, staging lanes, and strip. Would like to visit. And yes, that red Willy’s is one clean gasser!
