You could also use wrapped guitar string to replace them. It comes in different sizes and looks just like fuel and brake lines with the stone guards wrapped around it.

I would love to see more specifics on the guitar string technique. I've seen people "unwrap" them?

This is the only pic I have on this pc and it's just a string. I did find a couple other uses for the string. One is door cranks and handles using jewelry beads and tail gate cables.

I got some used ones from a friend that used to play guitar and I found them on ebay really cheap. Some as low as 1 to 3 bucks a pack. And they come in different sizes. Just do a quick ebay search and you will all kinds of steel strings for guitars.

Yeah thats a really good idea, being a guitar player I should try that with some spare string!

If you find it in the right sizes that wound string is great fuel lines, brake lines, and emergency brake cables to go under the chassis as well.

I find that giving the wheels a little black wash for contrast makes detail painting a LOT easier. I still use thinner and enamels for this step, but I know that we all have fancy panel liner solutions now.

This makes it easier on my eyes when trying to get paint where it should go.

Thanks for all the tips. Any tricks for getting these...image.thumb.jpeg.3727276ca3350222c3261704f2ab2471.jpeg

Paint and a tiny decal, I know.

I use a very fine detail brush and clean up the edges with a toothpick as I go. image.png.a542d33a6ba7eba2547a9dd88d1909b8.png

I use this felt tip marker that is small enough at the base to begin and it starts to taper down to a fine point at the end. It's perfect for doing these wheels cause the sides of the spokes need to be colored black too. So, I can get the side spokes and then concentrate on the rest of the wheel where the slot is. And that fine point works well getting that space behind the lug nuts. I got it at Hobby Lobby where all the pens and Motolow Chrome stuff can be found. I don't know the name of the pen right off hand, I I can get it to you later if you want to know. And I'm sure they have others that will work just as well.

Second ever attempt at installing plugs wires went pretty well.image.thumb.jpeg.0ea93ad37dd0a61f7f7a456e579d2c81.jpeg

I just happened to have a set of brown wires in the stash. The color matched the body to good not to use. I managed to get a glue drop on the belts, right on top of the decal :(.

Some pics of the tub before it's hidden forever.

  • Not a lot of detail. I usually don't do carpet unless it's a drop-top.
  • Decal on the brake pedal cracks me up. Hard to see, but like how the image of the decal (cobra) is molded into the plastic.
  • I've never had decals on a shifter before.
  • Disregard dust specks.

I'm really digging the colour on the Torino.

A lot of folks seem to dig the color. That's always nice to hear. One of those "not what I intended", but works good colors.
