64SS350 Posted July 23, 2024 Posted July 23, 2024 Good day all, I am looking for answers (or pics) to the question of, is the tow truck pictured on the box the actual truck used? Thanks!

Mark Posted July 23, 2024 Posted July 23, 2024 The guy who restored the car did that truck also, from what I have seen it is a ballpark replica of the one that originally towed the Falcon.
Mark Posted July 23, 2024 Posted July 23, 2024 Too, the restoration of the Falcon is a composite of two years' features. It's the 1967 version of the car, with the 1966 paint scheme. The '66 version had a 427 wedge engine, and the front axle was further forward than it is now. 1 1
Mark Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 That Falcon was originally a 271 hp 289 car. You couldn't get a Falcon with that engine in the USA, but Ford of Canada did offer it. Only a handful were sold, along with (supposedly) one or two Rancheros.
pack rat Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 The truck on the box is pretty close. The original truck was found rotting in a field years ago. If you look close you'll see a '66 grille; the re-creation is a '65. Hard to tell from the angle of the pic, but to me the original looks like a short box (highly unlikely). Bonus pic of the original trailer; the car could have originally been delivered with those hubcaps. 2
Bainford Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 That's some cool history there. I love seeing photos of actual haulers and trailers, regardless of their type. Not always easy stuff to find, though with the plethora of photo sharing sites these days such as tumblr and instagram, a lot of old personal photographs are coming to light and I'm seeing some team tow rigs for the first time. Good stuff.
mk11 Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Crossed paths with it about thirty years ago at a friend's shop in London where it was receiving a fresh coat of pearl white.
