Yeah this is the new MPC release of the Dodge Demon. I was thinking of just building this one straight out of the box but I had also picked up a extra Duster kit with Hobby Lobby’s 40% off with the idea of switching out some of the parts. Once I got started looking at the Demon’s parts and comparing them to the Duster I knew that I was going to have to change out some of the parts. So what I’m thinking I’m going to do is use the Duster engine, A frame, firewall, front seats and maybe the rear end and exhaust. I’m going with Bright White body Black vinyl top and a black/gray interior.

So far I’ve started cutting in the A frame. As always your comments are appreciated and welcome.

I want to follow this and see where it goes. I want to build one of these Demons too. My Mom had a brand new '71 Demon in Plumb Crazy Purple. I hated that car as a kid mainly because if the color, but I'd kill to have two or three of them these days. Funny how our outlooks change over the years.

Does anyone make a bench seat for this car? I know most people want buckets, but if I build one I need a bench seat to keep it in line with Mom's car.

Should look lovely in GW3 Bright White (Sno-White in Plymouth nomenclature).

One of these in my stash is slated for GW3 as well, with the black/orange interior (oh, how I wish that one of the resin / 3D folks would make a console-less bucket , with the bench seat treatment... more interior colour choices that way !)

Have you considered building it with the blue 340 ? IIRC, those came along by c.May 1971.

Will be watching, can’t wait to see your rendition

Thanks Rich. It’s going to be a lot of cutting and fitting but I think it’s going to be worth it.

Thanks DW. The 71 AMT Charger has the bench seat that you are looking for.

Why not use the entire duster chassis underneath?.

Curtis the Duster chassis is one that has the interior floor modeled into it and the engine bay is part of the body on the Duster and not on the Demon.

Thanks Anthony. So did you leave with it?

I’ve been able to get the Demon A frame removed and fitted the Duster A frame in. I also changed out the fire wall with the Duster one. I’m going with the Blue 340 that I will add the plug wires. I’ve removed the molded in drive shaft.

No. I picked up another 66 fairlane 427, and the 34 slammer. Plus 2 small star wars. But the sale stull goes on.

Thanks. That's the R/T car with the cutouts in the doors, right? If so, I think I have that as a parts car in my stash. I think I used the engine, rear axle, and the a/c parts for a different build up. I'll check later tonight. I might get lucky for a change. Then I'll head to Hobby Lobby and get a Demon and get started.

DW this is the kit and what the seat looks like.

Thanks. Yes, this is the R/T that I have in my parts stash. Split bench won't work for the Demon. Demone seat is straight across with adjustable head rests.  Maybe I could take this one and fill it in and put the piping and head rests on it. Won't hurt to try.

Well i know have that kit. Took the wife to hobby lobby. Told her they have fall stuff out. We get in the door she goes left and i go to the back. Of course it takes me forever to look at the kits. I have almost everyone they have on the shelves. I had this one in my hand looking at the bandai kits. She walks up and says go ahead n get it you know you want it. Told her to pick a color. She picks testors lacquer in firey   orange. Told her good choice. Gotta love a woman who supports me in my hobbies.

Tony it’s a nice kit and the Duster parts work good with adding extra details.

Started working on the interior by using the Duster bucket seats then I cut the arm rests and window cranks off the Duster and added them. I also used the Duster steering column plus I found a correct shifter.

I also tested my flat clear Acryl on the black strip decals to see if I could remove the gloss on them and I’m satisfied with the results.
