STU111 Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 G’day everyone. One of my more recent builds. It was going to be a factory stock Lucerne blue with blue interior T/A. Unfortunately, to my horror I realised I’d applied the “Trans Am” decal too high on the rear spoiler (after I’d sprayed several coats of clear on the body and sealing the decals!) Also, l just wasn’t happy with my detail painting of the Pontiac rally wheels. Annoyed, I shelved it. After purchasing some micro mesh polishing cloths, I decided to practice using them on the Trans Am body as I considered it just a test mule. It ended up being probably the best paint job I’d done after playing with the micro mesh cloths! So it was resurrected and fitted with the custom wheel option that came in the kit and lowered slightly at the front. Came out okay even though it wasn’t exactly what I’d planned. Thanks for looking, any comments appreciated. Cheers, Stu. 11
espo Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 The paint finish looks like the extra effort really paid off and the color looks dead on. As for the TransAm on the trunk, maybe the car was built on a Monday after a big weekend. The wheels and stance look great. 1
shoopdog Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 That’s one slick Trans Am, paint looks flawless. 1
karbuildr Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 Very well done T/A. Excellent paint finish, looks good with the custom wheels and tires. 1
PappyD340 Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 Beautiful Trans Am Stuart, paint looks amazing! 1
XYHARRY Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 Very nice finish on your T/A there Stu, and the wheels look good too. I used those wheels on my AMT 63 Galaxie. Really nice save mate, well done. Cheers, David. ??
ncbuckeye67 Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 That looks amazing! A great looking build inside & out. Exactly how many coats of clear did you apply? 1
Nacho Z Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 Very nice, Stuart! Love the color and you having it polished out perfectly! 1

Exactly how many coats of clear did you apply? I think it was around 6 coats, it was a nice warm day and I was spraying several bodies at the time so I lost count a bit. First two were light mist coats as I’ve made the mistake of going too wet too soon in the past with the TS-13 only to have it fry my decals. ? ( won’t make that mistake again ). Cheers, Stu. 1
