I'm sure you can get rid of that extra "bulge" on that hood, make it more like a '49 Merc hood.

Just needs a little plastic surgery!

Is that a resin kit? I know moebius had some hornet kits and they are great. But a dremel would make quick work of removing the un wanted part. But use a mask i hear resin is bad for ingestion.

If it were me, this is the approach I'd take:
1. Measure the difference below the letters that hang below where the opening should be, then remove that amount from above the letters.

2. Shift the hood front up to its new location. This will leave slight gaps on either side that need to be filled. Fill gaps.

End result should have letters comfortably away from the opening, and the hood edge aligning where it belongs.

I thought you wanted to remove that "thing" from the top of the hood.

Otherwise I'd do what Mike Grover said.

I think it's a very nice kit, other than some mold lines etc. nothing you can't rather easily fix!

I opened up the doors and trunk on mine, never finished it due to broken A pillars, should get back to it!

Cheers!

I used Cyafixed glue to fill the gaps of the hood repair. It's almost ready for priming. Took the passenger side trim off and sanded, sanded, sanded, sanded, and sanded some more. Got most of the mold seams sanded down. The hood needs to be fitted better so it has a nice rear gap and fitment at the front.

I put the differential and front spindles on today. I was trying to fit the wheels to the stubs, and the dadburn pieces kept breaking on the resin wheels. I got aggravated and turned the light off.

Ouch!. I've had plenty of moments like that. sometimes you just need to walk away for a bit.

The stubs for the hubs on the Hudson are 2 different sizes fore/aft. I used my Dremel to sand down the pieces of resin. The tube I have isn't the correct size ?, so I heated it a little and worked it over the smmoth end of the drill. Fit the piece and trimmed to get my desired wheel depth. Hope to have some ride height pix tomorrow.

Since I'm in "wait on parts" mode, I think i need to bring Mr. Hudson back down off the shelf. I'm going to shoot for a pearl purple in the sheen of the '49. I ordered this book off Amazon. I'm going to read through it and see what I can put into practice ?
