TheBEAUMONTGURU Posted July 31, 2024 Posted July 31, 2024 the AMT 67 impala kits: The windshield is as thick as a coke bottle and looks terrible especially along the upper edge. does anyone have any fixes for it? I tried the windshield from the Revell 65-66 impala kits, but it does not fit properly in the amt body. I tried acetate sheet, but its too much of a curve and looks wavy. anyone out there found a better fitting kit glass?
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 31, 2024 Posted July 31, 2024 Several ways to make much better looking and realistic model car "glass"...like this: https://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/58564-replacement-windshield-heat-formed/
bobss396 Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 How about a previous AMT '67 Impala release? It may be worth a look if you have one around. 1
Mark Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 All of them have that mounting surface around the perimeter. That kit was created during the Ertl era. I'd bet they designed it, and a '67 diecast, at the same time, and tried to share as many design characteristics as possible between them. 1
slusher Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 I never had a problem with the 67 Impala windshield..
Ulf Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 (edited) I want to remember that I sanded off some of the part that is glued to the roof to make the window sit higher up and better. Fantastic with a four-door full size but I had to tinker quite a lot with the interior to get the car together. Now it is half done in its box. If it helps you I can take some pictures of parts and the half build car. Edited August 2, 2024 by Ulf
