I know what "But that's just me" means, Dave, I use it all the time ?.

To me it means, "I'm taking the time to share my opinion with you but I won't judge you if you choose a different option. As I have no idea what your intentions are and I've seen people come up with some pretty amazing things that I never would have thought of myself."

Have I been using it wrong all these years?  ?

But in any case, yeah that green stuff was kind of what I was thinking. I'm interested to see how you put it to use.

Sorry, Dave, that was me trying to be playful with a bad attitude.  The tufting is going to be history along with the console. The car has a manual transmission and the console is too high. It doesn't look right. The shift linkage would need to be too long. In reality, this probably wouldn't happen. That shifter needs to be on the floor. The console was a bad idea. The seats will stay, though. The door panels are not well detailed so something needs to be done there.  I appreciate your comments and ideas, David. I wasn't really happy with what I had created. Less is more.

No worries, I sometimes have trouble reading a situation and have inadvertently offended with an innocently intended comment. Just checking.

I think getting rid of the console is a good call Jim.

Of course you could build a power control console like I did for my '58 Chevy Proton!  :D

Mmmmm......nah. I'm going to stay away from consoles for now. Although....I still need cup holders. ?   maybe just a little one between the seats. I'll need buttons for the door solenoids too. ?

Well, I have colors for El Nomado.  I whipped up an interior and I had this can of Tamiya Coral Blue( which,by the way, is a dead ringer for Testor's Turquois) and, I dunno, it seemed right. Anyway, I was looking through a parts box for a console and ran across door panels from the Lindberg "'38 Ford Van" . The Nomad interior door panels were molded in relief so low it was barely visible. There was actually a place marked out for an arm rest but nothing in the instructions to indicate the presence of arm rests in the kit nor was there on the sprue trees. Lindberg to the rescue. I modified them a bit so you could pull the door closed (no handles, solenoids, remember?....oooo....but how do you roll the windows down??...electric windows!.....note to self: gotta make buttons). So....this is how it looks so far, I'll work in some buttons later.

the door panels echo the side trim in matte aluminum (it was all I could think of) and the console echoes the bed treatment. Yes the cup holders look too small. Live with it ?.

That's it for now, I need to wet-sand the body and do whatever after that so....thanks for looking, grimacing,  smirking, etc. Your comments are always welcome. ?

Cup holders look good from here, they look like they are from an era before the big gulp was the standard size of travelling beverage! Perfect size for a can of soda pop! Or even a frosty top barley pop( but we don’t do that )

When I selected a drill bit for the cup holder operation the only thing I had to guage it with was a case of coke bottles that came with the '41 Plymouth (?). Since I don't drink that awful poison, I would propose that the cup holders are the perfect size for a 16.9 oz. Aquafina ?.....or a 7 oz. long neck ?

An excellent solution Jim!

The interior looks great! Nice and cozy.

Thanks, David. Sometimes it's best to just let it happen ?

You better hurry up with those buttons. The Grimace is coming with your lunch order, is the paint dry on the cup holders?

Lenny......I am truly at a loss for an appropriate response. Does Mc Donald's have car hop service where you are? I suppose I could go to Sonic....but there's no Grimace there. But there is one here -> ? <- ......?

Last week I hit the bondoed areas with some Ace "sandable primer" in order to smooth out those areas and a few days later I wet-sanded.  Today I sprayed the whole body with Tamiya light white primer. I put it on too heavy and tomorrow I will be sanding a lot of it off ?.

It's too bad that you're not going for a weathered and distressed look. It's really difficult to get that effect when one wants it.

At least it's a fairly easy fix.

The back windows look great as does the rest of the body work.

This one is in the box. The crazing in the area between the trim spears on the rear quarters that are "corrugated " was impossible to deal with and still be able to properly finish that trim. The only solution I could muster is to eliminate the corrugations but that is a very invasive operation involving much body work. Maybe I can come up with a solution but the original idea will necessarily be abandoned.

That sucks Jim, sorry to see this one stopped.

I'll get back to it but I need to get other stuff done.

Wow Jim, that's a bummer. I thought that it looked like the crazing would sand out, I'm sorry that that's not the case.

David G.

It did sand out just fine, Dave, it's just the rear quarter trim. It's filled in with primer and won't allow sanding without ruining the molded-in grooves. My first mistake was not masking it out from the very beginning. Lesson learned. I'll deal with it later.
