Altered Ego Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 Just a quick sneak peek at my first three Dodges. 6
M W Elky Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 What color blue did you use on the Virginia twister . I think that the actual car was a sedan . They all look great so far
Altered Ego Posted September 13, 2024 Author Posted September 13, 2024 I used the Testors Icy Blue Extreme Lacquer. The Twister was indeed a sedan, an A990 conversion. Virtually nothing from the Moebius kit fit the Fremont sedan body when I built The Virginian, so I decided to go the easy route and just do a hardtop. You will see this one more time during this series, LOL. 1
jphillips1970 Posted September 14, 2024 Posted September 14, 2024 can't wait to see them finished - great start 1
Nitro330 Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 Love the AWB Mopar's. That's quick work since that kit just came out recently. Great start to these! 1
papajohn97 Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 Congratulations Jeff! You’re leading the Moebius ‘65 Dodge AWB assembly line race! Wow! Three already painted & decaled and all three look fantastic so far. I’ve got three kits & resin parts orders in process and hoping to also do Dyer’s and Landy’s AWB hardtops and then use the AWB Strickland kit decals to do Strickland’s standard wheel base SS car using the A990 sedan kit. Are you planning on grafting Torqueflite automatics onto yours or just using the kit stick trans? Also are you planning on doing the match racer version of Dyer’s car (supercharger, no radiator, dragster style exhaust headers)? That car (originally the “Color-Me-Gone” car?) was so fearsome looking back in the day. Really looking forward to watching your progress and seeing these three come together.
Altered Ego Posted September 23, 2024 Author Posted September 23, 2024 I am planning to use the blower and injector from the Atlantis Fiat and the headers from a Polar Lights funny car on the Mr. Norm's car. I will probably just use the kit transmissions. I had the same idea for the Strickler standard wheelbase car, but I have an old set of Color Me Gone decals that may end up on the A990 version. I am planning a maroon Mr. Norms car as well, but have a Fremont Racing body painted for that build. I haven't decided if I will go that route yet or not.
iBorg Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 Where did you get the decals for the Mr. Norm car?
Altered Ego Posted September 24, 2024 Author Posted September 24, 2024 Fremont Racing Specialties on Ebay. They are very nice and work really well. 2
Altered Ego Posted October 1, 2024 Author Posted October 1, 2024 Finally, making some progress on the Twister and Mr. Norm's cars. The blower/injector assembly from the Atlantis Fiat kit assembles nicely on the Moebius hemi. 3
Altered Ego Posted October 3, 2024 Author Posted October 3, 2024 The Virginia Twister has taken the lead today and will probably be done Sunday if it doesn't rain in Talladega on Saturday. 2
Altered Ego Posted October 6, 2024 Author Posted October 6, 2024 The Virginia Twister is the first one completed. You can see it under Altered Wheelbase Fun.
Altered Ego Posted October 6, 2024 Author Posted October 6, 2024 Made some progress on this one tonight. Unfortunately, I ran out of glue. 3
Altered Ego Posted October 10, 2024 Author Posted October 10, 2024 Here is a sneak peek of #4. I had an OLD set of Color Me Gone decals and decided this would be a cool build. If anyone reading this wants to do a similar project, I have one more complete set of 1964 Color Me Gone decals free to a good home. 2
Altered Ego Posted October 28, 2024 Author Posted October 28, 2024 Making some progress on the Landy car. I added a small detail as this one is looking like a late season version of the Landy's Dodge. When Dick ran the new wrinkle wall tires, he ran Cragar wheels. I came across these tires and decided to put the new wrinkle walls on here. I will probably post this on a new thread when completed and on the Altered Wheelbase Fun thread. 3
