The famous English stage, TV and film actress Dame Maggie Smith has died recently.

Probably most recently well known for her role as deputy head of Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films,  also as the Dowager Dutchess with the acerbic tongue in the TV series and film of Downton Abbey as well as other memorable film, TV and theatre appearances.

A truly great actress who will be very much missed by both theatre and cinema goers alike.

Not sure if the Carol  Burnett show was ever shown on UK TV Chris.

Another memorable film that Maggie Smith started in was The Lady In The Van where she portrayed a true story about a woman who lived in a van on writer Alan Bennett's driveway in London during the 70's.
