Bugatti Fan Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 (edited) The famous English stage, TV and film actress Dame Maggie Smith has died recently. Probably most recently well known for her role as deputy head of Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films, also as the Dowager Dutchess with the acerbic tongue in the TV series and film of Downton Abbey as well as other memorable film, TV and theatre appearances. A truly great actress who will be very much missed by both theatre and cinema goers alike. Edited September 30, 2024 by Bugatti Fan 1
ChrisBcritter Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 My favorite role she played was as Bubba Higgins' teacher on the Carol Burnett Show:
Bugatti Fan Posted October 1, 2024 Author Posted October 1, 2024 Not sure if the Carol Burnett show was ever shown on UK TV Chris. Another memorable film that Maggie Smith started in was The Lady In The Van where she portrayed a true story about a woman who lived in a van on writer Alan Bennett's driveway in London during the 70's.
NYLIBUD Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 That sucks.I remember her in one of the funniest movies of all time,California Suite(1978).She was hilarious, playing an actress alongside Michael Caine..If you have never seen it,try to catch it.All star cast.RIP Maggie Smith.
slusher Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 She was a terrific actress and I only know her later movies. May she R.I.P.
