dirtbag Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 I’m looking for a kit that has a good flathead motor in it. This is for a Revell 32 Ford.
OldNYJim Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 The recently reissued 32 Ford Sedan by Revell has a Flathead - and it’ll drop right into any of their variants
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Any particular period? Street car? Drag car? Present day nostalgia build? There are as many flavors of flatheads as there are ice cream. 2
stitchdup Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 the world is your oyster with the flatheads, there must be 100 variations available in 3d prints, the aftermarket and kits. do you want reverse flow twin charged fantasy motor, realistic old speed parts, old school superchargers, if its been done in 1/1 its probably available now. heres 3 i have in progress for various builds from various designers. the front blown engine has been slightly altered to make a streetable motor as it had nothing for cooling it so its a mix of different designers prints. 4 stromberg motor frentzel blower front blown. this has been modded a lot 4
dirtbag Posted October 31, 2024 Author Posted October 31, 2024 I'm not wanting anything that's out of this world. It's a Revell 32 3 window coupe. I've got the wheels & tires lined out. I'm just wanting something that's not too extreme. A kit flathead would be the easiest solution.
Fat Brian Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Just to add, the flathead in the 32 kit has a C4 automatic transmission.
DJMar Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 (edited) Revell has nicely done flatties in their '37 Ford truck, '50 Ford truck, '48 Ford kits and '40 Fords, to name just a few. The flathead in the street rod version of the '50 pickup comes with Ardun heads. The '40 Ford convertible street rod kit has a nice dual carb setup. The '48 Ford convertible 2'n1 kit comes with triple carbs. The '37 pickup street rod has the stock flattie, with optional heads and dual carbs. All have manual transmissions. As already stated, the recently reissued '32 Tudor has a nice flathead with triple carbs and an auto transmission. With the flathead crossmember from the Tudor kit, the engine will drop right into the 5W frame. Edited November 1, 2024 by DJMar 2
blizzy63 Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 (edited) The most obvious flathead source for your Revell '32 Ford kit. Revell 1932 Ford Tudor Sedan (14553) Edited November 3, 2024 by blizzy63
oldcarfan Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 For me, I prefer the flathead out of the 50 Ford truck. It was the Ardun heads and looks right to me.
dirtbag Posted November 3, 2024 Author Posted November 3, 2024 Thanks for all the help. I've got a 32 Tudor on the way.
