Hello, guys! Sorry to bother y'all again, but I have finally found a chassis for the ol' Dodge I'm working on...... The only thing is, the front axle is a dropped axle. The frame is from the '55 Chevy street machine kit. The axle has too much drop and is sitting on the ground. I was told the Cameo pickup most likely had a stock axle for the front, but I don't have one to reference...... The pic shows my problem........ So, does anyone know for certain that the Cameo axle is what I need? It can't be a straight axle, as that would raise it too much......

All the AMT '55 /'57 Chevy pickups that are NOT marked as "street machine" have stock front axels. I "think" all the stock ones are Cameos though.

I'd think you could use any strait axel that's wide enough though. I'd check in gasser kits and any kits with a gasser strait axel option.

I'd sent you one [IF I have one] but our post office is on strike right now.

FYI your front tires are on the wrong side. The tread pattern should be the other way as designed for water dispersion.

As to your issue, you could snip 1/8" out of the middle of the vertical ends of the dropped axle.

Expand

You could make a square lift block to put between the axle and the spring.

That would still leave the axle on the ground.........

I have some things that might interest someone to trade, if anyone has one of these laying around.

I thought I might have one of the Chevy truck kit that I could get the front axle from, but the '50 & '55 kits I have are the Street Machine versions and they have dropped axles in them.  I did look at what is available in 3D files and found 2 options right off the bat.  The first picture is a file I found for free, and the 2nd one is available from 3dModelspecialties and is a Bell 2" dropped axle for $2.20.  If you don't have any luck finding a kit version, I can print one out for you, I would just need to know the width.

It would be if i didnt have 2 of the street machine kits with the  drop axle. Sorry i didnt have what you were looking for.

I did take a good look at the big droop axle and you should be able to take some drop out of the axle. Just becareful where you cut it at. I would trace it on card stock first to figure it out.

I have some 3D parts I will be printing in the next few days, so if you would like me to print one up for you just let me know.  I would just need to know the width you would need.
