A swamp cooler is usually hung on the front passenger window and contains cold water and balsa wood shavings in a wire cage. Hot air enters the cooler through a large opening in the front, evaporating the water and producing cooler air that is then blown into the car.

Thanks for that Bob. Hope it wasn’t a silly question, but I’ve not seen one on a car here in Australia, although Ive always lived in the southern most part and the climate is quite cold here for most of the year. Thanks for that. 👍🏻

You bet.  There are no silly questions.  Glad I was about to shed a little light on something unknown.
