Good choice, I wonder if am AAR 340 would fit that?

Thanx, A 340 would probably fit and be better on gas but I was thinking of adding an extra tank in the trunk, 70s vintage of course🙂

Made some more progress on the interior. It’s gonna be interesting to see it with the body since the fit feels a bit strange. Did a mockup of the interior to se how it ties together with the red brown carpet and seats in red over gray primer. Think it looks good. I did a shading on the door cards similar to a 1:1 reference picture I saw.

Not a good picture, but here's the first try at the engine. It's the stock VW 1.7 block with a few 'minor' tweaks. I'm working on a backstory but it fits some of the wild stuff coming out of Germany in the 70s. After buying some 3D print turbos and plastic rod I reached an epiphany, I suck at making exhausts. I ordered a Honda H22 Turbo from Eternity Hobby Supply and stole the turbo system. It fits and looks close enough to what Porsche was doing with their 935s back in the day.

Since a turbo engine puts out a lot of heat, the hood needed some insulation so here it is.

I've decided to use these 4 lug wheels off the Monogram 924. They look a little like MiniLites. These wheels were also offered on the 914. I have a set of Fuchs that will work, too, but I kind of like these.cannonballVWGolfWheels924.jpg.2879f4a1a68fd8a86c4cdc38f68d1320.jpg

The sub assemblies are pretty well finished, so I did a test fit. Late last night I shot the wheels in gold and this morning I gave them a wash with Tamiya black wash then some dull coat.

No Pics yet, but Building a Fujimi 1967, Ferrari 330 P4. Not sure where I'll put the extra Fuel Tanks.

Well the 330 P4 is a Non-Starter for me. Too many iffy parts, and More Than I want to Bite off this time.

I'm switching to the AMT '69 Ford Galaxie.

Sorry, for the change.

I would like to join into this GB-I've been hanging out over at MSC for a little while and have been on FSM for 20+ years.

Mattilacken has been posting build progress on MSC and it looks like a good time to be had.

Not sure what I am going build yet but will decide within the next week.

Having said that-oldcarfan-I love seeing your A1 Golf/Rabbit build-great build-I worked for VWoA from 1979-1987, scheduling materials & production for the A1 & A2 Golf stamped body panels-still warms my heart to see a first & second gen Rabbit/Golf.

Got the 302 essentially done.  At least as far as I plan to take it until more test fitting is done.

I also flocked the interior with embossing powder.  First time using it and I think I like the look better than flocking.  No pics of that.  It’s a pretty sloppy job, but the seats should hide the mess.😂

I received the USCP detail kits and went straight into the working hinges. Each hinge is composed of three pieces and holes are drilled to pin them into place.

The rear hinges have been mocked into place (ignore the extra long wire). Next is the front...

I’m thinking the chassis plate is done.  Did a little bit of weathering with Tamiya powders.  Opinions?  Too much?  I want to keep it fairly subtle, but definitely used.

Glad to hear you're signing up for a build. The more the merrier.

The focus today was on getting the front hinges in place, opening the trunk, and test fitting the USCP trunk detail (radiator, battery, fuel tank, spare tire, and inner structure.

Indeed, the parts fit perfectly in the chassis and body. However, and this is mentioned in the kit's notes, the trunk is too thick and now requires slimming by about .25-.5mm.

@White Rabbit that looks absolutley beautiful and amazing! Seen allot of great things from them!

Thank you!

It's my first time using their products; and I have to so say that I'm impressed. The prints are clean and precise and fit very well.

This will be my first contest entry and first model posted to the forum. I am looking forward to this, it's right in my wheelhouse. I have chosen the "Unicorn" of Nissan's, and a story to ride along with it. This 1973 Nissan Skyline GT-R will be ready for the Cannonball Run, just hope I can hide from the Fuzz! Progress pictures to come! Love all the entries and all of your work on this forum!

Looks like it will be a fun build, and coming up with the backstory is half the fun to me.

Well...this is unexpected. It seems, and please correct me if I'm wrong, that the brake calipers were molded on the wrong sides of the rotors with the piston side out and the pad side in.
