ShakyCraftsman Posted December 27, 2024 Author Posted December 27, 2024 (edited) Hey all Well, I got a little more done on this build. I now have the hood just about ready for primer, I cut the front of the rails off of the "BS" frame. I'm using them to lengthen my frame rails 8" to work with the extended hood. Don't get in a panic I fixed the "BS" rails so I can use them on another build. I had to modify the DD 12V71N. I had to remove and refit the alternator and belt. I had to remove the fan pully and move it up about 2.5" and add peices to it. It now matches up to the fan in the radiator. So here are some pictures for yous all to look at. This view shows the holes in the hood filled in and sanded. The other side of the hood. This view shows the peices from the "BS" frame rails that I used to lengthen my frame by 8". I added a strengthening strip to the inside of the rails. This is the whole frame as it is now. I'm not sure if I'm going to have to add a section to the rear for the lift axle or not, still in the works. This view shows the front engine mount that I scratch built from plastic strips. I added some .06" Plastsruct hexagonal rod to it to simulate bolts. This view shows the front engine mount and the rear engine mounts. Scratch built. This view shows the front engine mount and the peices I added to the fans belt. This view shows the engine sitting in the frame along with the radiator temperaly for pictures. This view shows that the hood does fit over that big Detroit Diesel 12V71N. Okay that's it for now be back when I can. I really need to get back on the Payhauler. And this view shows that I did fix the "BS" Canadian stretch frame rails. 😉😁 Ron G Edited December 27, 2024 by ShakyCraftsman 3

ShakyCraftsman Posted December 29, 2024 Author Posted December 29, 2024 (edited) Okay, you guys are probably going to be mad at me. Yupp, I had to cut a section out of the spread axle frame. It was for a good cause, plus I did salvage the rear spread axle section. I needed it for my Heavy Haul frame for the "BS" Peterbilt frame. This view shows the rolling chassis temporarily together for pictures. You can see that there is now room for the Hendrickson lift axle and the steps. Another view of the chassis. I added a 3' (36") section to this frame from the spread axle frame. This view shows what the final layout will look like. That's a 3D Concepts headache rack. It's not the one I'm actually going to be using, but the good one isn't here yet. Another view of the set-up. You can see were I made a pull handle for the fifth wheel release out of some 0.016" wire. This view shows the 3' section and were I added it. A better view of the 3' section. And the extra cross member from the kit. This view shows the two front air tanks fixed in place on the frame. I modified the kit parts by cutting off the end peices and gluing them to a peice of 5/16" x 1 1/16" long tube. This was the easiest fix to the void in the kit tanks. I rapped them with some 0.016" wire for the clamps. Well that's it for now I'll be back when I get a chance. Ron G Edited December 29, 2024 by ShakyCraftsman 5

ShakyCraftsman Posted December 29, 2024 Author Posted December 29, 2024 (edited) Okay, I have the sleeper cut down from a 60" to a 36" one. This view shows the 36" sleeper sitting in place on the frame. Front of sleeper. Rear of sleeper. Drivers side of sleeper. Passenger side of sleeper. Bottom of the sleeper. That's it for now be back soon with more. Ron G Edited December 29, 2024 by ShakyCraftsman 5
ShakyCraftsman Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 (edited) Hey all I removed the roof of the sleeper to fix the fit. I also got the lift axle mounted. And I fixed the air intakes on the 12V71N and add a fuel pump to the front blower cover. This view shows that I added some paint to the inside of the sleeper. I also added the bed. I didn't go crazy with the paint because you won't be able to see much when it's done. This view shows that the roof fits much better now that I added a peice of 0.04" plastic strip to the gap. I also added another vent to the passenger side of the sleeper. I think I'm going to have to get some Archer rivets so I can finish this. This view shows the Hendrickson lift axle mounted. I can still disassemble it for painting. This view shows the the new modified air intake. Also the fuel pump just in front on the front blower. Well that's it for now be back soon.
