Seen many apparatus in that color combo from way back in my career. Dom Thanks ! Our local FD wears this color, I'm kinda building a couple trucks they could have if the need allowed. I finally figured out the hood, as usual I was overthinking the problem. Now for the bumper and get the hood and cab sprayed. Anyone have a spare R model front rim I could trade for ? I can't find the twin anywhere, and like the look Edited January 11 by gotnitro? Smaller picture 6
gotnitro? Posted January 12 Author Posted January 12 Been a productive morning Alclad airframe aluminum was used for all the trim, sealed w aqua gloss. The hood is missing the grill surround, I'm planning on masking it off then painting it chrome along w the bumper and grill. I guess the engine will be a KW snapper 3406. 4
BK9300 Posted January 12 Posted January 12 The Alclad looks great on your diamond plate - where did you get the plate from? 2
Gary Chastain Posted January 12 Posted January 12 This is going to be a cool build, like the modifications and vision. 1

gotnitro? Posted January 12 Author Posted January 12 Here's the next area getting attention...thinking green chevron stripes where lights are engraved w white doors...hmm kinda like this photo I pulled from web for ideas. The inside walls will be more polished diamond plate The steps and bumpers will be Alclad Any feedback or suggestions welcome 4
gotnitro? Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 (edited) Thanks Dom! Getting stripes inside the tunnel would be nearly impossible and looking right. Keeping them just outside will work better around bezels too i figure Edited January 13 by gotnitro?

Glad to see ya lurking in the rigs again Masked up the rear chevron today, quickish work w 1/4 " tamiya tape. Noticed a wonky thin space above doors, photos showed a panel across there. A quick browse of the evergreen stock I hoard, found a suitable piece. Fired up the Gaahleri swallowtail and painted the stripes w safety lime. Now to clear the back, then paint all the Alclad aluminum parts. If I clear everything later, I could (will) lose the polished sheen. Thanks for following along 😀 7
Pete68 Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Looks nice Jeff the masking is perfect. This just keeps getting better. 1
Mopar - D Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Nice progress Jeff, now that I have my cars built for my next transporter I will be posting it here but I have a model club Nova build that I’m in and need to finish it first. Looks like you’re going in the fire truck building with your next builds. I know they will look great all together when your finished. 1
gotnitro? Posted January 15 Author Posted January 15 @Mopar - D can't wait to see whats next on your bench! Yeah I got a few fire trucks planned, just need to find space for the other builds
Chariots of Fire Posted January 17 Posted January 17 FWIW take a look at some of the real stuff. Just my opinion but I think the step on the back would look better if it was not real shiny bright. In any event it would not take long to look that way because of foot traffic. Like what you did to the back of the body. The stripes look great. 1
Firebuilder Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Jeff, great job on the chevrons , very neat and clean, sharp edges. Dom 1
vincen47 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 This is coming along nicely. A great build. Excellent concept and execution. 1
gotnitro? Posted January 19 Author Posted January 19 Now the hard part for me, bashing engines into spaces not meant to fit. I'm using the Cat 3406 from the W900 snapper, just cause I had one laying around. The wheel of death made it fit I masked off the hood grill surround, and grill and sprayed them with Alclad chrome over gloss black. The headlight bezels are kit parts 7
BK9300 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 That's an intense colour, Jeff - looks great! The Alclad went down nice, too - very smooth finish. 1
