Sonorandog Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Just finished this one. Every year I make a model for a friend of mine for Christmas. This year I am only about one week late, not bad for me. Model assembly is easy, painting is straight forward. Decals were a bear. The included decals in the kit were garbage. Very disappointing for a brand new modern reissue kit. But the factory decals had about a 50% failure rate. No matter what technique or tricks I tried there was no guarantee the decals would work. They would go down but then flake off. Again, not every decal just some of them. sometimes within minutes sometimes overnight. So frustrating. I bought an aftermarket set from JT Graphics. Look better than the kit decals and I had zero issues with them. But, all of the "life boats" are individual decals as opposed to the kit which grouped them to speed up the process. So there were hundreds of individual decals to apply. A lot of work but worth it. In case you are wondering why I did not try to get a replacement set from Round 2, I tried that once before and it was such a hassle I gave up. So this time I just went direct to aftermarket. It is done, I like the results so it was worth the effort. And I had some fun with the photo editor for the pictures. After all a space ship should be in space. 3
