Mr. Metallic Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Could someone post some pics of the contents of the Atlantis release? On the fence about getting it just for the decals but curious if there’s other cool parts
stavanzer Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Craig, there is a Pic of the Decals on page One, and HPI Guy's Video showing all the Parts on Page Three, You'll need to scroll down a little bit to find the listings.. That should show all that you wanted to see.

On the fence about getting it just for the decals but curious if there’s other cool parts Ive already been removing parts off the trees, the parts I thought was cool was the 6 carb intake, gasser front axle setup. The window glass is poor fitting but I can make my own Ive built worse kits, and there are a lot of little ejector pin marks to file away - but I'll take them any day over the divots that need to be filled. This is my version with some wheels from the parts box for a quick mock up. Edited April 5 by Old Buckaroo 7 2

So! I'm not the only one who thinks that the front end and headlights are a bit square or heavy. I agree that a clip from the AMT body would make this a great kit. I had this kit as the 1980s Hot Rod issue, but tried my hand at turning it into a sedan delivery which never got finished.

That's a great idea! The 57 Nomad has flat floors without the real car's footwell tubs. I'd use the entire 56 frame and chassis with floorboards and interior under the 57 along with AMT front clip (fenders, hood, grille, bumper). One thing I do love about the 57 is the gas tank with spare tire well. It is a near match for the 1949-1954 Chevy Sedan Delivery tank and spare (I had a 1:1 scale 1953 version). I plan to use this part to correct all of my Revell 53-54 deliveries and 49-52 Jimmy Flintstone delivery kit bashes. That "53 Panel" kit was a favorite of mine, built one each in 2nd and 3rd grade without issues other than having dad cut the doors open. Kit needs redoing with an accurate firewall, inner fenders and floor pan. Hood is too flat in the middle. New stock engine and torque tube would be nice too.
dino246gt Posted April 16 Posted April 16 I had one of those horrible kits, the '55 so I built it as a car from Cuba! The brothers sold the rare side trim for enough money to bondo it up and spray it blue in the back yard! They use whatever parts are available to keep it running, it's NOT numbers matching, LOL Cheers! 11

I felt like I have should tell ya as was pointed out to me on one of my very early '57 builds I had the front end a bit too high if were to meat the Gasser rules. The bottom of the engine oil pan is supposed be be no higher than a certain amount of inches but I don't remember what it is. Anyway, if you like it like that go with it! 1

At some point the crank centerline was wasn’t allowed to exceed 24 inches from the ground. As another rule of thumb the wheel hub centres were not supposed to extend below the rocker panels. 1

I'm not stressing this build for much accuracy - its just for total fun and not let a plastic kit get the best of me. I agree the front end is outrageous, kinda like the inspiration of the "Carolina Squat" Once completed it will be in my opinion of a model that fits in with the "weirdos line" !

Hey, you could just say it's up higher because she just launched at the line😂 Enjoy the rest of the build Sean, gonna look great!
disconovaman Posted May 4 Posted May 4 I decided to get this kit for the cool decals and maybe for a bit of nostalgia because I built the yellow Hod Rod series re-issue back in the 80's. I also plan on building it gasser style. I'm going to fix the hinges from sagging and add magnets to keep the doors shut. I'll leave off all the ill-fitting parts just to simplify the build. We'll see how it goes. I'm kit bashing the Ollie's score 32 Ford Roadster for the wheels and tires engine and anything else I can use from that kit. Plum Crazy-ish with gold flame decals is my plan for now. 🤔 I'm enthusiastic about these kits and their reputation. I hope I can do it justice. 2
Old Buckaroo Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Anthony - that's gonna be a super color combination and the tire /wheel combo is great . Truth be known the gold flame decals twisted my arm to buying this kit. 😄 1

I was gonna stay away from it until I watched the HPI video. Chris didn't have great success with the kit and my memory was it built up fairly eazy the first time other than the doors. The decals are the best thing about the Atlantis kit... and the boxart 😆
