Thanks for sharing, it's a beauty. Super nice detailing. I'd love to see the build thread on it. Thanks, but never had a build thread, build was done 20 years ago !

customline Posted May 31 Author Posted May 31 When it got windy last night, I thought maybe one dry weather is blowing in. Yup. The '40 std. was ready for paint but what color? I've been pondering that question for weeks. Dark colors show the polishing scratches. Something bright 😨? How about Boyd's "BRIGHT GREEN" ? I believe this color is pearl. The grain is extremely fine. I used Mr Hobby thinner with a splash of the "leveler", 1:1 with the paint. Shot through my antique "Wren". This is it, fresh from the dehydrator. That's the raw finish. I don't think I can improve it much so I'm gonna quit while I'm ahead 😎 7
customline Posted June 2 Author Posted June 2 Foiled again but no curses. Not much to do with the interior, just some foil along the top of the side panels. Molotow on the cranks and handles. Forgot to paint the dash, as usual. I really hate clean-up after an airbrush session. Dash needs to be body color. An airbrush job. 😕. Anyway, thanks for checking in. I suppose I should paint the floor flat black, I dunno. Can't see it anyway. 4
espo Posted June 2 Posted June 2 Beautiful looking paint finish and color. Sort of a Candy Green maybe?

The official name is "BRIGHT GREEN" but it's a very soft metallic or a pearl type. It's quite stunning. I almost botched it up but there was divine assistance. Polishing it might be a big mistake. I never get a finish like this. The 1:1 mix? Leveler? The stars? I shall repeat the formula. Who knows? It's enamel. 🤔 1
customline Posted June 25 Author Posted June 25 There's one little issue with this chassis swap that I neglected to address....till now. No inner sheet metal. Dang. 😔 Evergreen to the rescue. The idea is to mask the truth, not win a trophy. Made a template of the panel (that you'll see behind the tire) with card stock. I needed to add some .010 to the fender flange in order to have something to attach it to. The panels are .020. Lots of CA and kicker. I added a heavy member (circled) to the body and the new sheet metal that I shall use to anchor the rear. It also serves to close it all up. Next step is paint it all black. Thanks for still following. 2
LennyB Posted June 25 Posted June 25 Nice job filling the void. Should also keep the squirrels out. 1

customline Posted Thursday at 01:56 PM Author Posted Thursday at 01:56 PM (edited) I brushed painted the new sheet metal with some Revell acrylic water base flat black. That's it! Just need to join the body to the chassis and do some touch-up. Thanks for hangin'! Edited Thursday at 01:57 PM by customline 3
