WillyBilly Posted February 28 Posted February 28 (edited) I always had a love for base vehicles with limited or no options. One of my favorites was a light blue C-1500 W/T with 4.3 V6. So I am building my own version. I sourced a 4.3 v6 from a GMC Sonoma kit, a Iceman W/T grill painted graphite gray. The color has way more metallic than I expected, but I like it. I sanded off the body molding, stripped the bumpers, and painted them flat black. Got the body detail done with some semi-gloss black Edited February 28 by WillyBilly 8
Zippi Posted March 1 Posted March 1 Nice looking Chevy pickup Billy. I like the black bumpers as it gives just the right amount of contrast.
DJMar Posted March 1 Posted March 1 Nice, I dig it! Regular base model trucks (and cars) don't get enough love. It looks like the Iceman grille fits really well. I've been thinking about a similar build with an old C3500 promo I have in the stash and have considered using that same grille. 1
1930fordpickup Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Back when you woukd see a base model on lots. I like it.
WillyBilly Posted March 2 Author Posted March 2 Calling it done. Kinda wasted money getting a v6 as it is not a TB 4.3 but an incorrect TPI version. Did find some under the hood detail parts like overflow, battery, and washer fluid reservoir. Made my own headlights by finding a picture online of a sealed beam, printing them out to the correct size, putting packing tape on both sides to protect them, and finally cutting them out and gluing them on. 2
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Looks good. I like stripper trucks too. Actual trucks, not symbols. Pretty cool headlight trick as well. 1
DJMar Posted March 2 Posted March 2 That turned out really nice! I know the color isn't exactly factory stock, and the V6 isn't the right one for the model year, but it's a sweet looking truck. I dig it. Also, that's a really great trick for the headlights. Cheap AND it works a treat. 1
