Sledsel Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Okay, I am getting ready to start on the 36 Plymouth modified and the BBC has to go. What 1/25 kits have the nicest 383/440? And does any kit have a good single plane intake for one of these engines? My '37 Chevy has a Chevy, my '40 Ford has Ford so my Mopar needs a Mopar.... 1
Bainford Posted March 5 Posted March 5 There are a lot of good Mopar big blocks out there. A few off the top of my head; AMT '71 Charger, Revell '68 Dart, Revell Chargers. I don't know of a decent single plane intake. Most kit single planes I have come across over the years have been disappointing, but they are reasonably straightforward to scratch build if you've got the wherewithal.
gtx6970 Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Agreed. IMO the best one is probably the Revell B/RB engine from the Revell 1968-69 Dart and / or Charger kits But none of them have a single plane intake manifold in it. For that You're most likely have to go aftermkt / resin suppliers
Fat Brian Posted March 5 Posted March 5 For what you're looking for I would look outside of a kit. Texas 3d Customs does a modified big block that would do the job nicely. 3
Steamboat Posted March 5 Posted March 5 MCV products also does a nice 3d printed 440 6-pack that has more detail than Texas 3d Customs, however I personally think that Texas 3d does the most factory accurate models because he scans actual engines to make his files.

Not sure how it can be any more detailed than scanning it and getting every single thing exactly where it goes. I did not dumb down the files when I reverse engineer them into CAD so I don't see how any detail can't be there. As far as the accessories I will agree they're not stock set up they were modeled after one of the aftermarket kits it's just the way I decided to go with that engine. 1

THANKS There's also a more stock version with the torker II intake both are single planes but this is the Mopar single plane versus Edelbrock
Steamboat Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Hi Charles, Not saying that you need to change a thing. I'm very satisfied with the kits I have gotten and will continue to buy from you. Their kits have more pieces that's all. Individual pulleys, separate torque converter, driveshaft yokes to name a few. Detail that in most cases you would not notice. And really not necessary unless you're using the parts to build a diorama.

Okay I guess when I think detail I think well the details of the parts not the breakdown I will admit I don't break them down as far as other people do I do more than some less than others it really comes into space considerations. Because I don't do just one scale think about how many engines I have how many different scales I offer them in there's a reason I sold my house and move somewhere with a 50x24 shop. I am definitely out of space until I get moved over there. Even then you can only do so many parts with so many options if you want to keep things in stock and I don't really do a lot of print to order. 1
