NOBLNG Posted March 31 Posted March 31 (edited) It looks great, but I’m thinking those rear suicide doors won’t open without hitting the fenders?🤔 Edit: Just looked at the 1:1 pics…I guess they will after all…my bad.😳 Edited March 31 by NOBLNG 1

Our Tudor is now a Fordor. Almost looks too nice to have to give it the beater look now, but that is what I am committed to do. Need t do a bit more work on the corners of the window openings to add some curvature but I think we are pretty close. WDYT? And I'm thinking I you're having way too much fun with this one, Lenny. Party on!
johnyrotten Posted March 31 Posted March 31 Nicely done Lenny. How much of a "beater" are you planning on making it?
WillyBilly Posted March 31 Posted March 31 Looks great. I built two Roadkill cars myself, and your struggles are far worse than mine. Great job so far. The end result is so worth it. Making a model show room is an art. Making it weathered is a whole different art altogether.

I've got a panel line tool, but not sure I'd get four, new lines in as straight as you have - looking good! Thanks Brian, being they are straight I used a razor saw to make the first incision then widened them with a scribe tool. The bottom of the rear door I just followed the line of the fender.

I don't think any two panels are the same color. The fun part will be the interior, there are no door panels or rear seat, just the inside skeleton of the doors etc. 4 hours ago, WillyBilly said: Looks great. Billy, yes, I had seen yours, not yet sure out to pull off the weathering so it should be interesting. 1 hour ago, Zippi said: Nice job and looking good. What a transformation. Thanks Bob, it's been a fun journey so far.

LennyB Posted April 9 Author Posted April 9 The journey continues and what I'm working on may not make a whole lot of sense. Interior of the bootleg Ford is bare bonz. Door panels gone, no rear seat, yada, yada, yada. So how does one go about creating that look. I'm not sure but I'm gonna wing it here. Just basically started cutting pieces out. Took out the rear seat, cut out sections of the door panels, then started fabricating a skeleton. I told you it wouldn't make sense. Maybe this will help, here is a pic of a 40 Ford door naked. Getting the idea yet? So when the interior is inside the body it will hopefully look like the inside of a door shell. Starting to make sense? But of course it will be another one of those details you really can't see. 5
customline Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Find any money under the back seat? There's always money. And French fries. 🥴 1
Bullybeef Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Thought this might help for your weathering Len. Or at least give you some ideas, /end thread hijack!
FoMoCo66 Posted April 10 Posted April 10 This is such a cool build. I love roadkill and all those other shows, I'm just sad they canceled them all. 😔

I’m tempted to cancel it as there isn’t much to watch anymore. 1

LennyB Posted April 13 Author Posted April 13 (edited) Started messing about with the patina. Not sure I like what I have so far. Just did the fenders and they still need a shot of matte clear to flatten them out but don't want to seal the deal on that yet. The patina on the real car is a bit odd as it's different all over the vehicle. There is yellow on the left side fenders, but not the right. Then there is light blue on parts of the body as well as red primer. A real mixed bag. Found a tutorial from @lou s which I used as a starting point. A keen eye will notice that I also enlarged the rear quarter windows a bit, they are longer on the fordor then the tudor. Edited April 13 by LennyB 5
Bullybeef Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Looks good so far Len! It takes time and practice to get the look just right, you can also use brushes to give I different texture. I bought some cheap rough bristle brushes from a craft store.
johnyrotten Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Looking good! I like the work on the interior, that's a whole other level. The patina is looking great so far.

Bil, great minds think alike, I started doing some brush work but then the flu hit me so it had to wait. 1
