Anyone aware of a '71 Barracuda of NEW tooling ? @SteveG, et alia : I'm just whipping eggs here ; however, I thought that either Revell or Round2 were planning this subject.

Naturally, the Revell '70 could serve as a basis for a '71 - but I'd be keen on a MPC-type , similar to the '68 Coronets and '71 Demon, etc.

The option I would most prefer that may also most likely to make a business case would be a Round2 open hood promo clone using the chassis, interior and clears from the 73/74 Barracuda promo/easy build tooling (I can't remember if the upholstery close or not).

This would get us a properly proportioned 1/25 scale body.

The Revell 70 Cuda is typical of many recent Revell offerings - wonky. It huts to look at it.

My concern is that the Monogram 71 Cuda has been around a long time so there is not the same kind of demand there was for a 68 Coronet or a 71 Demon.

That old MPC promo has the '72-'74 upholstery and steering wheel. I thought that it was slated for reissue ? Worts and all, it's the only '72-'74 Barracuda around.

That Monogram 'Cuda is not only long in the tooth, but has proportion issues (along with myriad inaccuracies). I'm not knocking it necessarily, just stating the obvious.

IF Round2 were to go with their (awesome) clone-programme , I would implore them to - like the Coronet - have an interior platform with separate seating and door cards. This way a hardtop and convertible could be options.
And, FWIW, I'd like to see something other than a Hemi. a "generic" big block could serve as a 383, 440, or 440+6. For this matter, a 340 would be the bee's knees.

I would be all in for a 71 Cuda in 1.25th scale

Be it a basic rehash using the MPC / AMT 72-74 Body. OR modify the Revell 70 kit as a starting point

Keep in mind the Interior pattern for the standard seats is 1971 Barracuda only and looks nothing like any other years

Both the original MPC issue and the Monogram kit copied the leather interior seat pattern

I wouldn't bet on a new '71 from Revell.  They're selling the old Monogram kit, and selling enough of them that it stays in the catalog year after year.

Round 2 if they leveraged it, has a lot of history and a deep well of old kits to draw from. Either from old tooling or from cloning their old tools, they could do some really cool stuff. My favorite era was the MPC 70s annual kits. I know they had their warts, but maybe they could clone some of those kits that the tooling is either gone or that was altered too much. I'd love to see a new 70 and 71 Barracuda with cleaner moldings, especially if they included the parts to make daily driver versions. For that matter, I'd love to see them tool up the parts to turn their other muscle cars into the base model versions as well, including the 70-76 Camaros and Firebirds. Flat hoods rule!

The Revell'70'cuda is overall by far the best E-body kit out here, but the body definitely needs some work to look good.  I did a detailed story on how to fix the Revell 'cuda body; IIRC it ran in the "Muscle Cars, Retro Mods, and Pro Touring" one-off magazine from late 2020.  You can still buy it at the Store on the FineScale.com website.  And the info was provided to Revell should they ever decide to address the issue.  Not perfect, but a big improvement I think... I have that (excellent) magazine. Also included are instructions on 'fixing' the AAR ; how-to add the correct 8.75" diff.

I really, really wish that Revell would update this to a '71 model. I also wonder why the Sox & Martin-specific Pro Stock parts haven't been included in subsequent issues ? Don't need the S&M livery, just the cool P/S items.
