stitchdup Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Did amerang just rebox other folks kits? The reason i ask is I just won a amerang branded lamborghini lp500 and from all the pics it looks like a gunze hi tech kit box but the price was lower than snakes unmentionables, and possibly the cheapest kit i've got for a while. The other 2 kits pictured on the box look to be fujimi enthusist kits of the ferarri daytona and a porsche 911. Honestly, i only got it cos it fits in my vw collection and its a brand i've only known as a distributor
Mark Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Never heard of that brand either. The only way to know 100% would be to compare one of these to its better known equivalent. The Amerang could be a re-box, or a copy. Copy kits are seldom as clean or as refined as the original tooling. They'll have short cuts; fewer parts, no brand name on the tires, things like that.
Matt Bacon Posted April 19 Posted April 19 (edited) Amerang is just a UK distributor of other people’s kits. In the 70s snd 80s, before the Japanese brands were well known here, distributors like Amerang, AA Hales and RiKo (Richard Kohnstam) used to put stickers on or even brand boxes from Bandai, Gunze, Tamiya and Hasegawa. best, M. stitchdup Posted May 9 Author Posted May 9 Well the kit arrived and its by maurai. It has working lights and interior with opening doors and looks like it should be an interesting build when i get to it. The engine is just a top part but looks like some detail could be added. I'm happy with it
