'20 Chevrolet Corvette C8

Hi!

Time to take up another supercar build. This time, its the C8 Corvette  Not sure about what color i'm going for, but definitely not doing anything crazy. Maybe trying to do like something you would find in a rental service instead of a race tracks. Will see how this goes

Silver, since GM seems to have skipped that color.

I’m usually not a huge fan of white cars, but there is one near me that is white (with red seats, I think) and it is quite striking.

As an aside, I know I’m getting old, because when I saw ‘20 Vette, the first thought that popped into my head was “they didn’t make Corvettes in 1920…”.  🥴

I've yet to decide which way i'll go. Torn between two options - (won't spoil it much 😁). One is a red tone with a twist and the second one is a bit different than you're average C8, but still pretty classic. I'll probably go with option no.2 to make it a bit more interesting But will see

Wow, its been almost a month already  Its about time to kick this build off. So let's begin

Day 1: Prepwork

Engine got its base paint


Interior too got its paint


Decided not to do some crazy two-tone interior and neonpink bodypaint - will do something simple and easy instead

I just painted my seats red for contrast.

Day 2: More interior work!

Painted the dashboard trim in silver 


Steering wheel is done


Center console is also done  Was a bit pain to paint the buttons and apply decals - the are really small


And also finished the dash

I use paint charts from the past, better colors but vintage .

Check the 68-72 chevy colors.

Day 3: Interior

Did some flocking  Then glued the seats in


And the interior is done!

Day 4: Bodywork

Did some priming  





Then did a few coats of black primer






After that, a couple coats of cherry red



And finally, a few coats of transparent red 





Looks pretty cool - like a ripe cherry  Pretty happy how it turned out

That's what i was going for Sadly couldnt find any actual red mist paint so had to improvise a bit.

My C8 build will be the Elkhart green from the 1972 color chart.

Ooh, green is really cool  I'm thinking of doing one in shadow gray. The convertible in gray looks really awsome

With that nice dark red here's a wheel that would pop.

Day 5: More paintwork

So, did some masking and painting The sideskirts and the rear bumper got its black



And a bit of a setback. Noticed that the color of the roof panel is a bit off. Seens like i skipped one coat of dark red when i sprayed it. Have to think a bit on how to go forward - leave it like it is, paint only the one part black or paint the whole roof black.

Day 6: Bodywork 

Got the body clear coated

Day 7: Engine build!

Did some work on the engine  





At first, i was sure i wanted white rims. But after doing it, i'm not so sure if it was a good idea anymore. I might repaint them to something else in the future. Have to think about it a bit.

Actually, the white wheels look good. Maybe with white rally stripes. On the other hand, gold, or hyper silver for the rims would look great too.

Excellent colour choice.

I kinda dig the white wheels. Having said that, the white wheels would go really well with white rally stripes. I can't believe I typed that, as I generally dislike stripes of any kind on anything.

Day 8: Engine build!

Engine is glued in 


Exhaust manifolds, suspension, wheel arches came next


And finally the intake manifold, airfilter and everything else. The engine is done  Too bad you can't really see it once its in the car.
