Nostalgia 1961 - an old Hawk kit "The Slinger"

I was going to build this kit but backed off to do another kit but will come back around to this one. Its the only older cheaper simpler kit I came across that has real rubber tires and not the 2pc normal plastic. Kit claims to be 1/24th. The chrome survived perfectly but almost 100% of the green parts were detached , I put them near just for the picture. Decals would have been nice but these are yellowed pretty bad. Instruction sheet was done well especially showing kits Hawk had to offer.. and those prices.. The original kit was called "Dragin' Wagon"in 1959 when many kits were motorized and reissued as unmotorized Slinger in '61.

What an interesting kit. I have the HAWK 1/4 scale Hemi A990 race engine kit to build. Picked it up close to 20 years ago at Marden's in Bangor, Maine.

Are these tools still in the crib or holding down fishing nets? 

Some very interesting kits that I don't ever recall seeing on the instruction sheet...

A lot of the other Hawk stuff still existed through ownership at Lindberg, so on theory it's either with Round2, or perhaps part of the slew of old tooling Round2 sold to Atlantis.

Yes these are niche kits, but so what? The days of million selling kits are long gone, I don't see hoe it's possible to NOT make money on this stuff. Hello.....marketing please ?

Package them as what they are. People are buying old, OLD aircraft kits. Think there might be a niche for these? OR the Pyro line?

You and I would love one, but, not everyone. Sadly I see this every time I go to my LHS and see all the "Rare" re-issued kits still sitting on the shelves years after they came back. Makes shop folks a bit gun shy on ordering old stuff again. 

One of the employees will ask me what I think about getting certain kits for the shop and sometimes I have to say don't get it. Because it is a Niche kit that only a few will buy, and then it will sit. 

Just my honest views and opinions.
