kelson Posted May 8 Posted May 8 New build i started last week, bought the kit when the tuner craze was going on in 2004 or so,the box art did nothing for me,but can be built stock. Color is Tamiya Bright Red,was undecided about using the rear spoiler, but went with it in the end. Interior is German grey/Nato Black,i used tamiya Semi gloss black on the suspension and tamiya yellow on the sway bars for a aftermarket look. The engine was painted various silvers/aluminum. The kit decals worked well for their age i added a old detail master CD to add some life to the interior. Chassis all put together,i added the usual heat stained exhaust, decided not to weather the chassis. Interior is complete,i added seatbelts and black embossing powder for carpeting. 7
kelson Posted May 13 Author Posted May 13 Update:i added the seatbelts to the inside of the pillars. The body/chassis went together pretty easily, only issue the pins for the rear wheels make the wheels a little flimsy. 3
espo Posted May 14 Posted May 14 Beautiful looking paint finishes. Like the pictures of the chassis. 1
Monty Posted Friday at 12:37 AM Posted Friday at 12:37 AM Your car paint looks remarkable. Did you rattle-can it or airbrush it? Any polishing involved? 1

I airbrushed tamiya Bright Red,which came out pretty clean and then i clearcoated with Splash paints 2k clear, usually no polishing is needed as the 2k clear lays down beautifully. 1
DJMar Posted Friday at 09:06 PM Posted Friday at 09:06 PM (edited) Sweet! That's a great color for this one. Also, I dig the chassis detailing and exhaust weathering. What material are you using behind the tail lights? I have a soft spot for these Tuner Series kits and keep wishing that Revell would reissue them. Edited Friday at 09:09 PM by DJMar 1

Thanks, i was going to paint this build yellow, but i changed my mind. It's possible they could be reissued i bought quite of few of those tuner kits when they came out.For the material behind the lights i use the foil from old cigarette packs,it was a trick i learned from the old Scale Auto Enthusiast magazine,it looks better than using Bare Metal foil or just chrome paint.😁 1
