So, I am getting my new model body ready to paint. I will be doing the interior in black. So, when do you guys paint the headliner and the inside widow pillars, and the windshield and back glass pillars, as they should be black to match the headliner. Watching YouTube videos, I always see everyone just painting the exterior of the body and nothing is done to the interior. And do you airbrush or brush paint it. And if airbrushing, how would one go about masking, as I would think I would not want black paint to come out and get on the exterior.

I paint them with a brush, after the exterior trim is foiled.  I first carefully paint the edges and inside of the A-pillars with a very small brush, let dry, then use a larger brush for the bigger areas.

Try this. I've done it on one so far. Came out nice. The stuff seems a bit thick to use on seats of a 1:25/25 kit, but headliner use is cool.

Ive always painted mine after I primer the body to be wet sanded.  I use an airbrush for my painting, spray the interior color, any over spray gets cleaned up with the wet sanding of the exterior primer,  once dry tape it from the inside and forget about it.  Never had any problems with that from cars to semi trucks.

I do all of the exterior body paint prep up to the point where it is ready for the final color coats of paint. I'll then mask off the window openings from the outside of the body and then spray the headline color. Allowing sufficient time for the headliner paint to dry I'll then mask off the headliner then paint the final body colors. What I have found it neater to touch up the headliner paint if needed than it would be to do touch up on the bodies final paint work.

There's an easier fix to all this painted headliner when to or not. Just build convertibles...No? 😉

But to be serious, I've used the same method as Dave does above. But I'll have to try that silly winks idea, kinda neat.
