First build of 2025. Based on the Stanger Things K5. Painted Tamiya Italian red, the top is finished with Tamiya white primer. I had a strange reaction with the clear coat so I just scuffed and scratched it up and now it’s a beater/soon to be weathered version. Wheels and tires from Fireball. The chrome center caps that come in the kit actually fit the Fireball wheels nicely.

Got some interior work done, using an array of different reds. Also got a new chrome pen by Zeyar from amazon, worked great on the dash trim, door panels and grille.

Sweet build! Looking great so far. Interior looks sharp and just as I remember those red interiors :)

These kits seem to have nice detail. Now I need to get hold of a 6.2l diesel engine and then I can make a replica of my dads old K5.

Thanks, this kit is pretty nice. I had an 83 K5 way back when in high school, and regretfully sold a nice square body suburban I owned a few years ago.IMG_6160.jpeg.3dec14e8c55a1b97d9913e04e5fa5db0.jpeg

updates on the 1/25 square body; got the chassis together but still have yet to weather it. Threw the stock steelies on some Baja Claws and I think the steelies with the dog dish hub caps would look tough on the Claws. Not sure if I want to run the Rally’s/BFGs or the Steelies/claws. Might have to give it a small body lift to clear the claws.

And some chassis weathering using Tamiya weathering master packs and some beige paint. Gloss black to simulate some leaky pinion seals and diff cover gaskets.
