dougwintz Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Ford Fiesta WRC M-Sport World Rally Team - ADAC Deutschland Rally 2018 This is the Belkits Ford Fiesta. I wanted to build this specific livery, which I found from Decalcas. The decals were excellent, but very, very thin and tended to roll up - so extra care had to be applied. Once they were laid down, they stuck pretty well without having to use a decal softener, something Decalcas doesn't recommend. I prefer to build cars with engines, so I took a chance and ordered the engine/bay transkit from KMP. It was great, very well engineered. The hardest part was cutting open the hood on the body to make way for the engine. It fits well in the model. Lot's of fiddling with decals, and with masking for the paint. I'm glad this is done. Difficult for me, but a good challenge. 7
Rich Chernosky Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Doug, having recently completed two rally cars. one in 1/12 ands 1/24, I can readily appreciate the attention to detail required. Thank you for the comment BTW. And this one is a stunner. You really scored here. The extra engine and all the decal work are amazing. Congrats on a job very well done. Now ...go find something easier. You deserve a break.
Pete75 Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Love it. That's a heck of a lot of work there, and going the extra mile (or two!) really paid off. Well done!

Looking forward to building that sometime this year.

If I didn't already have a NItto version of this car in 1/12, it would be a done deal. Mine is started. Can't wait to see your talents added to that kit. Italeri has really stepped up to the plate with their 1/12 offerings so you will enjoy the build.

Zen Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Wow, impressive! Trying to figure out what body parts are painted & what is decal.

I primed the body in Tamiya grey, masked the body and painted the fenders white. Then masked the fenders and painted the rest of the body Tamiya French Blue. There are actually a couple of areas where I applied a white decal, like where the aero pieces meet the fender, because the seam lines between the parts didn't look so good. I use spray cans, but I have thought about moving to an airbrush. But with something like this, I don't know that an airbrush would do any better. Still would have masking to do, and cleanup of overspray would probably still be needed.
Bruce Scully Posted Wednesday at 11:47 PM Posted Wednesday at 11:47 PM A lot of great detail work, super decal work, well done.
