TomA Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Hi all from Melbourne, Australia. My name is Tom (duh!) and I found this site trawlin' the web. I liked what I saw and have decided to join. I have been into models (cars, trucks, motorbikes) for a long time but don't get enough time to build. Work keeps me pretty busy. It has been compounded by the loss of the table space I used to have set up as my modellling area. I have good intentions, but there is always some reason they don't come to fruition. Maybe I need more self dicipline. Maybe a little step at a time to finish that model! I have about 100 in boxes on the waiting list! I am member of a couple of model sites and enjoy the chit chat and general banter, as well as looking at other people's WIPs and finished gems. I appreciate all forms of models (yeah, even them. I AM a male after all! ) and am a firm believer that skills in one area of modeling can transfer to other genres. I'll just poke around in the background for a while and get the "lay of th land". So if you see a pair of eyes looking at you from some dark place on the screen, or get the feeling that someone is watching you  , don't worry it's only me! Yeah, I'd probably worry too!
Foxer Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Welcome to the forum. We all are in the "in progress" mode here ... that's the best part of this hobby!!! Looking forward to seeing some of your uncompleted works.
crazyjim Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Welcome Tom. Jim from florida, USA. I love this forum and have learned many things from it. My problem is being ashamed of the models I build after seeing so many fantastic builds. I just can't do what some of these people can. Oh well. I'll plug along and keep trying my best. One of these when I think something is good enough, I'll post a picture.
Raul_Perez Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Welcome, Tom!! We can't wait to see some of your builds!! Later,

Tommy Kortman Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Welcome aboard Tom. I think you'll find that there are a pretty good group of guys here. you'll find some pretty incredible builds in the "on the bench" and "under glass" sections of this site. There is also a wealth of knowledge floating around here, so there is probably help for any question that might arise. Enjoy!!

TomA Posted May 11, 2009 Author Posted May 11, 2009 (edited) Thanks guys for the warm welcome. I'll try and get some pics of my models up soon. Good to see there are other Aussies around. I'm sure I will enjoy my time here and from what I have seen so far there are a lot of talented builders here. Welcome Tom. Jim, never be ashame of the workmanship on the models you build! We all have different skill levels and capabilities! The important thing is that you enjoy building and enjoy what you build. Learn from any mistakes and take the lesson learnt into the next model. some of us even come back later in years and rebuild an early creation to improve it. This is a good gauge of how you have grown in your experience. BUT NEVER BE ASHAMED mate! Anyone who "knocks" your efforts in a destructive manner has the wrong idea of what the hobby is about. CONSTRUCTIVE critisim is okay, but the critics must be aware of the feelings of those they critcise. Even the best builders started somewhere and built many "shockers". Anyway, off the soapbox!! Thanks again for the warm welcome and CU around! Cheers! Edited May 11, 2009 by TomA

jbwelda Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 very beautiful TR3! i dont recognize "masterkit"...is that a company making kits? is this the gunze TR3? i built a lemans racer of of the gunze one that i should post up but havent taken photos of it!
TomA Posted May 13, 2009 Author Posted May 13, 2009 Thanks William. The TR3 is one of my favourite builds also. A lot of work, but satisfying. From memory the wheels came from another kit. Masterkit, from memory (and that's not too reliable) was a model company back in the '70's/'80's, but was short lived. I think they were UK based. I could be wrong though.
RodneyBad Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 welcome aboard. Ya got some really great builds. Yup, I love the Sammie too. I didn't know That Arii Challenger could look soo good.
