GMasterG Posted June 21 Posted June 21 (edited) I had an automotive paint shop mix the Lucerne Blue from the original paint code. Despite a successful test-fit the hood wouldn’t clear the front of the shaker once everything was glued in place so I’ve left the hood off the latch. Disaster struck when I dropped resin all over the windows but I successfully polished out the blemishes with a range of sanding sponges and polishing pastes; the process has proved a very valuable experience in many ways. I enjoyed making this one. It came together easily after two failures that preceded it. Edited June 21 by GMasterG 10
TransAmMike Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Very nice job Grant....that's odd about the "shaker" not fitting.
espo Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Great looking paint color and finish. Maybe you could elongate the hood opening to clear the shaker.
Geno Posted Sunday at 03:54 PM Posted Sunday at 03:54 PM That is gorgeous. That is odd about the hood. I didn't have any fitment issues with mine.🤔
Bills72sj Posted Monday at 04:55 AM Posted Monday at 04:55 AM Very nice result. This definitely on my must build list.
karbuildr Posted Monday at 10:14 PM Posted Monday at 10:14 PM Very nice build, the color looks spot on. I've built 3 of these and each one had the same hood issue. The hood itself is actually warped out of the box. At least it was in all three kits I built.

I hate to hear that, as I said, I didn't have any issues, but I got mine when it first came out. Maybe something changed over the run, I don't know. It is definitely strange.🤔 Edited Wednesday at 12:19 AM by Geno
STU111 Posted Wednesday at 03:27 AM Posted Wednesday at 03:27 AM Good looking little Trans Am you have there. I did mine in the blue as well, it’s not as detailed as more modern kits, but still builds up nicely. 👍🏻 Well done.

The first kit I bought was 10 years ago, and it was present then, although not as bad as the most recent issue. The issues I purchased last year have the same hood warping, but it's more pronounced now. Could be that part of the mold is simply showing it's age because the first release was, I think, in the late 80's. 1
XYHARRY Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago It looks like your shaker scoop is sitting too high, you don't have an engine compartment picture so it's hard to tell what the problem is. May I suggest that you carefully remove the shaker/carburettor assembly to see what the obstruction might be. Otherwise your build is nicely done. May I suggest a little extra detail with some black paint on the mesh sections of the front grills. If you like the chrome look you could add some panel line black wash which will give it a more realistic look. Well done Grant on a very clean build.
