And here is my Review of the reissue from Revell.

Revell is bringing back the former Matchbox kit after almost 30 years. The traditional
folding box contains a total of 79 parts, distributed across white, gray, silver,
and clear sprues. While Matchbox's sprues with rims, radiators, and other
parts were chrome-plated, here they are silver-gray. However, this is by no means a criticism,
 as apart from the radiator and the windshield frame, nothing on the original is chrome-plated;
spoked rims certainly not (a bad habit that is still practiced!). In addition, there are relatively
hard tires and a small decal sheet. Due to the age of the molds—which date
from 1978—there are a few more burrs, mold lines, simplifications, and errors
on the otherwise flawless components than one would expect from a new kit. The
first thing that stands out when you take a closer look at Caracciola's car is that the frame
has too many holes. However, these are not broken through, which makes correction easier. Another
very noticeable error concerns the toolbox and the three bottle-shaped objects
on the passenger side. The box has a completely wrong shape, which means that
the decal for the start number is also incorrect, and instead of the bottles, there should be a
gasoline canister with a triangular cross-section and two hydraulic jacks.

Some details on the chassis and the spoke rims are simplified. Unfortunately, the tires have quite a
lot of burrs or fish skin, but with appropriate reworking they are perfectly usable, even if they have the wrong tread pattern. The dashboard with raised scales is very
nicely done. The engine is quite well
designed. At first glance, it looks a little thin, but it is very close to the original
; with good painting, a lot can be achieved here. That leaves the transparent parts:
the headlights are perfectly OK, but the windshield is much too thick. The decal sheet
is very small, but has been expanded compared to the original edition. In addition to the start numbers, there are also black stripes for the molded tension belts, fittings,
and Mercedes-Benz logos for the steering wheel and the quick-release fasteners on the wheels. The color
assembly instructions leave no questions unanswered and are a real improvement over the original.
Personally, I find it a bit of a shame that the brilliant Matchbox box art by Roy Huxley has been replaced by a modern (CGI ? ) Pic..

Your finished model looks excellent with the weathering. Thanks for the review. Always amazes me when certain parts were designed completely wrong, as you pointed out. Makes me wonder where they got the idea to design it as they did.
