At the time of the Austin Kimberly - Austin Tasman (X6) being launched onto the Australian market it was quite an advanced design in comparison to the other competitors like  Ford Falcon , Holden Kingswood and Chrysler Vailiant whose rear-wheel drive, conventionally sprung underpinnings dominated the market at the time. However, the complexities of front-wheel-drive were an issue against the car, and compounded with the lack of body variations and models, the X6 was never a serious threat to the dominance of the rear-wheel-drive and multiple-body Holdens, Fords and Chryslers.  From 1970 - 1972 the successor of the Austin1800 were build in Australia and New Zealand (As a Morris Kimberly or Morris Tasman). Powered by a 135 cui inline 6 from the Austin Maxi the main body work of the Austion 1800 were used along with a new design front and rear section.

That confirms what I thought by looking at that car: it has a flavor of automotive design from the "down under".

Not really. It was a freak down here too. The Austins were weird and British. Nothing Australia had front wheel drive.

I was judging it strictly by its appearance (I'm an Amurican).  And even if it is British, to me there are also lots of commonalities between Brits and Aussies (again, from my point of view).  But this one for some reason looked Australian to me.
