Muncie Posted July 27 Posted July 27 Missed this one somehow... Where do I apply for the parts driver job at West End Speed Shop? I want to drive that car all day. Very Awesome!

Hi Stuart! Thanks for the comments, very encouraging. That small Chevy bare block is an accessory that comes in the 66 Nova by AMT. It even includes an engine stand. Many modelers use them in garage dioramas. CT

I want to drive that car all day. Very Awesome! Hello my friend! Great you stopped by! As you can tell, my attention is mostly spent between: a- Bonneville cars, b-Street rods, and c- Pro touring. This one involved much scratchbuild, but was fun. I'll hold the delivery driver position open for you LOL. I'll soon post my latest "annual" salt car in the coming days. Photo session should be this weekend, so maybe monday. Watch for it, I think you'll be surprised by the type of streamliner I built this time. Unusual to say the least. And built to pass inspection, thanks to your kind gift of an SCTA rule book. Stay tuned. Regards, CT

The stance and rake are the first things I determine with the intended chassis & rolling stock, because it's the first thing that the observer feels. The rest of the scratchbuild follows... CT

Legend has it that the idea for the car/pick-up hybrid came from Ford of Australia, when banks would lend money only on vehicles that "you could work with". The depression pushed ol' Henry to say yes out of financial savvy. So... Take Revell's Buttera sedan, alternate 29 roadster chassis and grille/rad combo, and Copperhead rolling stock, plus AMT's 32 Ford fenders, and 4.3L V6, all extensively modified. Scratchbuilt: roof, firewall, bed floor, long hood & side panels, interior panels and console, hood hinge, tailights, rear suspension bars, quarter-elliptic front suspension, axle, rack & pinion, brakes. Tamya's Pearl yellow, fully polished. Revell's spray chrome & Molotow accents. Hours of fun with styrene! CT HI Claude...another creative and truly fun project! Thx for sharing it! ***** Also, wanted to say I am just blown away by the '61 Impala Pro-Touring model and article you did for the FSM Muscle Cars, Resto-mods, and Pro-Touring one-off newsstand special 5 years ago. Just dug that issue out and re-read it. Great stuff throughout, but the effort you made to compose and stage your construction photos and build captions was highly, highly impressive. And the finished model...well...what can I say other than what a great job. Just wish more builders had seen all your hard work (and that of the others who contributed work to that issue). Anyway, once again, way to go, my man! Cheers...TB

That 26 Ranchero was fun to kitbash and scratchbuild, and while it has not wound up on contest tables yet (next one around here in october), friends who saw it at my home hand favorable reactions. We'll see... As to that 61 Impala, I tried to go the extra mile, in the interior and front susspension in particular. I have entered it in a local contest only once, and got a trophy, 2nd place if I remember well. I also never posted pics of it on any forum, because it was comissioned work for a magazine (as you know all too well), and the fine print of the contract lead me to believe that "some restrictions apply", as the saying goes. To your point about "staging" construction photos: photo art is not my forte, and I lack the obvious patience you have shown over years of print contributions troughout your career. The way you extensively photograph entries in events you attend is another testimony to your mastery of that discipline Oh well, maybe someday I'll try to learn more about the art of photography. Come to think of it, a good friend for whom I've built a 1/1 street rod was Canada's "Photographer of the year" 5 or 6 years in a row. He could teach me some I guess LOL. Finally, I'll soon post my annual Bonneville car on this forum, and given the strange choice of base vehicle I made, I'll be looking for your comments! Regards, CT

My understanding is that all the magazines prefer (in fact, pretty much insist) that you do not show your magazine projects in a public domain until after the magazine has been published. My general rule is to hold off until the subsequent issue of that same magazine gone on sale...another words, I do not plan on posting images here of the current hot rod project in the September/October issue of the magazine that covers all genres of scale modeling until the next issue of that mag (November/December) appears on the newstand and in subscribers' mailboxes. But iosting images of a model that was featured in the mags nearly five years ago seems to me to be kosher and then some. Recommend you check with the editor there for clarification - he was once a freelancer himself and well understands the boundaries on this type of subject I sure hope you decide to share this car on the boards at some point as it is, in last in my view, one of those segment defining projects that sets a high standard for fully detailed restomod replicas. And...will sure keep an eye out for the B'Ville build....TB
