It’s likely gonna get worse. Artificial Intelligence can probably run a better scam than Actual Ignorance. I automatically delete any e-mails or texts that I don’t recognize the sender. Likewise, I don’t answer phone calls if I don’t recognize the number. If it’s legit they can leave a message, but they never do.

Those phone calls are quite an annoyance. We get them on our land line. I pick them up, don't say a word, then hang up. But if someone speaks up, I mean a live person then I am rude to them. All I say is "WHAT DO YOU WANT?" Sometimes they speak up so then I'm rude and call them out as scammers from a boiler room in India. Sometimes they just hang up because they don't know what to say because they are probably expecting to hear a "Hello". Ignoring the calls just sends them to the answering machine, at least I cut the ringing short. They're never going to stop so rudeness is all they get. Most of the the time they're just automated, instant hang ups. Live people, instant rudeness.

Its already gotten worse. My wife got an email that purportedly from Paypal. They even copied a legit email somehow, complete with logos and legit links. She's an officer in a club that posts their officers on their web page. Well this email indicated a problem with a membership payment, and included the names of the club president, and the VP of membership and asked her to clear up a payment issue by clicking a link. Of course she didn't, but it looked legit enough for her to call me in to check it out. NEVER, EVER click on any email link, even if you think its legit! They're getting really good at their scams!

I always use the link that is bookmarked in my browser to be safe.

if you want to stop the calls keep a football whistle next the phone. They will only call once and flag your number as not succeptible. if you answer with words they will never stop calling

I always thought that would be an awesome way to stick it to a scammer; had a similar idea to answer the phone and then get an air horn and just blow it full force into the phone. Have yet to try that but I probably won't.
