I don't want to read the article - the provided headline is enough for me to say NOPE.

Speaking of "Huge / Hugh" - people have a helluva time pronouncing my surname which is Hughes. Then they can't spell the cornsarned name !

Of course I then thrill them with the family coat of arms ( it's in Cymræg ) , and how the surname is a patronym ; how it transcends both Ireland and Wales.

Usually by that point I'm talking to an empty room.

We could go on ad nauseum. The keyboard and it's various shortcuts are somewhat responsible for the state of certain things. I get the shorthand. LOL, IMO and the like. It saves typing without question. And if all are agreed, then fine.

This is the nature of language at its basest. It is a set of parameters which we all agree to. I did Not agree to Heighth, or Come with, or needs changed. In fact, I would have lobbied heavily that distorting language and manipulating it is the exact cause for a great many ills currently plaguing this country. I'll leave this here.

With my degree in English I will say the Internet is a cringe fest when it comes to either spelling, pluralization or there, their, they're.  But the one that really burns me is Heighth. There is no H at the end of Height. I don't know where this came from, but it makes me nuts. There, I said it.

I'm amazed by the number of people who ostensibly made it through the K-12 process but can't make a proper plural version of a word.  The most common error I see is using an apostrophe before the "s", making it look like a possessive. (Ex: bike's) Even more mystifying is that they don't do this with every plural, and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to how they decide.

If I had to guess, I'd say they saw others write that way on the internet and assumed it was correct.

If it's on the Internet, it must be true!  BTW, misuse of "its" and "it's" is also rampant. Actually I had a problem with it until my GF straightened me out on the usage.

Sheeples is as sheeples does.

It's funny that dumb and wrong seems to spread a lot faster than smart and right.

I am SO GLAD I grew up when we were taught to "reach for the stars" and "be all you can be" as opposed to these poor youngsters of modern times who are taught "you can't survive without government intervention" and "you'll own nothing and like it!"

I don't know exactly when "myriad" became a noun as well as an adjective.

When I was in school, myriad meant essentially "many", so saying "a myriad of something" was the same as saying "a many of something". Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Today though, it seems to be perfectly fine to say "a myriad of something", with myriad meaning "number", as in "a number of something".

To my ear, "a myriad" just sounds stupid.

But I assume it's been misused for so long it's now accepted in the vernacular.

Me me me me me.

I mentioned something about the increasingly popular incorrect use of "aircrafts" as the plural of "aircraft", and it just went from there.

EDIT: And, ummmm...it's "whose".    :P
