Maurice Henderson Posted Thursday at 07:47 AM Posted Thursday at 07:47 AM Hello forum I started out trying to find a 69 Road Runner, but was out of luck..I bought the 69 GTX Pro Street kit instead..Before anyone blows a gasket about Sox & Martin didn't run a 69 GTX.. They did use the 69 GTX(A Super Stock car) as part of their Plymouth Supercar clinic program. The program toured the country showcasing the teams race cars, promoting performance and the latest performance vehicles from Plymouth..Though the GTX was used for display purposes it also was used for some racing.. This car gave me hell painting the stripes..I painted the body stripes 3 times & the hood 4 times..I used an old set of decals from the 67 GTX..The top half on the engine is from the Hemi Dart..Aftermarket/hood scoop wheels from Iceman's Collections..Paint was Testers Dark Blue, Tamiya TS-26 Pure White and PS-34 Bright Red..This is MY VERSION of a Sox & Martin Super Stock 69 GTX. To me, this what modeling is all about. Take what is in your head and transfer it to a model..After all the hell it sent me through, I like it. Enjoy and comment 8
Zippi Posted Thursday at 11:48 AM Posted Thursday at 11:48 AM Maurice, let me be the first to say you did a bang up job job on the ole Sox & Martin 69 GTX. Love these old drag cars. Nicely done man.
M W Elky Posted Thursday at 12:18 PM Posted Thursday at 12:18 PM Hey there It look great nice job on those stripes. This is a great use of this kit . I threw in a few pictures of my failed / stalled Sox & Martin 69 GTX project as I’m just not happy with my paint job . I sure wish slixx would update their decal sheet to include the white cloud road runner decal .
Maurice Henderson Posted Thursday at 05:31 PM Author Posted Thursday at 05:31 PM Mike, those stripes almost made me just give up until I gave it 1 more shot..Give it another shot my friend. I agree with you I wish Slixx would add the Road Runner decals to the Duster, Cuda sheet
DanL Posted yesterday at 07:57 AM Posted yesterday at 07:57 AM When I think of pro stock or super stock cars, Sox and Martin are what I think of. I know from experience how difficult those 2 or 3 tone paint jobs are... you did a real nice job Cheers
Mike 1017 Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Very, Very Nice. I sometimes use Acrylic to paint stripes. Any bad thing that happens can be washed off with water
Maurice Henderson Posted 17 hours ago Author Posted 17 hours ago Mike 1017...I will put that in the memory bank for when build the Sox & Martin 68 Barracuda..Thanks for the tip
