There was a 50% off sale a month or so back so I asked Phil to download this file for me.

He surprised me a few weeks back by printing it for me.

Looks good but a lot of work to do.  Motor, suspension and interior look good but the wheels are a bit average. There are also 2 McLaren's available so might look at them shortly.

Here is the next one I will watch when you will create another masterpiece, Dave .

Tks Helmut,it's a little way off yet but I'll certainly try to live up to your expectations 😂

Ok, I've finished the salt lake racer but have yet to post 'under glass' so I've started on the 2E.

This is a nice file but needs lots of work as usual.  Front end and engine detail is really good and it deserved the rear of the body cutting off to reveal it.

I've put in about 30 hours so far and a lot more to do to get the nose sitting properly and the interior to fit.

Loving it!!

Coming along slowly, interior needs lengthening so that will be my next job.

Three Chaparral books but this one gives the best detail reference photos for the 2E.IMG_20250925_124439682.jpg.ae8f53d3f4ad0c3bab38df27537cc662.jpg

I'm in awe of anyone who can paint that the way it's made, many sub-assemblies all together, and make it look good.

Thanks for the heads-up on the reference book too.  :D

Here is a link to photos I took at the Monterey Historics when all the still existing Chaparrals were present

Tks Phil, that's an album and a half, I could spend the rest of my life looking at it!

I'm in a bit of a quandary at the moment.  Because it's a resin print the fine details (mesh and air outlets in front guards) are almost nonexistent and after a couple of coats of undercoat they'll be gone.

As it's resin it's a bit thin and fragile to cut the vents out.

Have to think about this one for a while.

Dave - the resin looks thin - but maybe not too thin - do you have any diamond coated grinding tools bits ?  Did you keep any ot the scrap resin that served as the base for the printed parts - you could practice on the scrap - I think the screened portions of the fender can be removed and replaced -

Hi Andrew, yes the resin is very thin and I have a good range of diamond coated bits, I'll have to think about it. Yes it's 1/24 and I only downloaded it because I missed out on Paul's.

Bought the book a few years back at the right price.  Just one of three Chaparral books, not bad for a Ford guy 😂
