Thanks, Michael. Slow night, huh? 😉

That and almost time to crash here. I have things drying as you saw from prior posts. So figured I needed to catch up on those WiP's/completed ones.

Well I appreciate your interest.  This one is moving pretty slow and it's not quite ready for paint. I'm juggling three others at the moment and the squirrels are waiting for me outside.

I checked my paint stash and found two bottles of Boyd's pearl green. This would be a great color for this car in my somewhat biased opinion. It's enamel and I've had good results with it.

Body work is progressing  and it's down to the little detail stuff.  I also added a simple trim sweep using evergreen .060 half round, sanded to reduce the cross-section. In anticipation of foiling, I had to puff up the backlight trim at the roof that had somehow become faint for reasons that escape me. I added a length of .040 and sanded it down likewise.  I removed the little trim pieces from the grille and filled the area where they resided. I think it was the right thing to do. Thanks for the lookie  😳

Thanks, Greg.  The tail lights were factory units...just not on a Chevy 😂.  After reviewing these photos, zoomed in, I see there's a little more "smoothing out" to be done.  I just may two-tone it now. But not with Tamiya paint. 😕

I was talking to Dennis (Dino246gt) about my paint woes, and he said he never puts anything with tape on it in the dehydrator. I haven’t done any tests yet, but in my case it could be the dehydrator causing the tape marks. Perhaps the Tamiya paint is particularly sensitive at higher temps?

I'm thinking it's more the adhesive on the tape. My wife had some medical issues that involved the use of bandage adhesive where she had some extreme reactions on her skin to the adhesive. My thought is maybe there's something new in adhesive technology across that industry. Maybe Tamiya paint is just sensitive to it. I dunno. Heat, I suppose, may be a factor in our case. Somebody smarter than me will figure it out eventually. I'll be cautious till then. What a PITA 😓

Looking awesome....

Thanks, Ken. There's still some nicks and scratches to iron out but I'm getting there. I don't see that stuff until I post the photos and zoom in. 😰

That's some good bodywork, at least from what I can tell on my phone screen. I guess I shouldn't zoom in baced on previous post 😅.

Yeah....that might not be a good idea, Elliot......but I'm working on it 😕

This stupid little trim strip is just killing me.  If I thought I could remove it cleanly, I would. I probably can but it's like I can't let it beat me. It's personal now. I still have some tricks to try to smooth it enough for a decent foil job.

I worked on this upper windshield trim tonight, deepening the faint line Revell provided. That saw blade is now my go-to tool for panel lines.

We modelers and body/paint guys are very particular about our work. My buddies built this car for a customer and competed for the Riddler Award in '22. They were awarded a Great 8 Pick. The car is PHENOMENAL in person. His remark about the paint "it turned out ok, there's a couple spots....." 🤷🏼‍♂️

It's phenomenal all right, Topher.  That hood mod looks like alien technology 👽. Totally amazing. The reflections are mirror-like. Fantastic 😎 I cropped the photo for those of us that don't know how to zoom in ( many older members here, Topher 😉). The photo is very high resolution so zoom if you know how, folks! 🥴

How is the roof on your kit ? I didn't notice that my kits roof was wavy until I applied the clear gloss varnish….
The waves on the outside followed the folds of the inside.

I have not noticed anything like that, Ulf, but I'm not surprised. I have seen this type of thing with other kits. It's unfortunate that you got that far before finding it. When I wet sand the surfacer on my roof, I will be looking for this and I thank you for the heads-up. There may be a way to deal with this issue without a dip in the pond but I'm no expert. I screw up at least 75% of my paint jobs. 💩

It's time to get these tail lights looking more like "factory," Greg 🥴. It ain't easy. I'm working on it, though. Trying to get the body to match the contour of the bezels is tedious, as you may know. The easier way to do this mod would have been cutting the body parts (the what?) From the tail light donor and grafting the body parts to the Deviant. You can see I've almost got it on this side, just a bit more tweaking.

The other side....not so much  👇😔.

I've added a piece of .015 to get the light in a better situation relative to the body. Later tonight I'll add filler and sand, filler and sand, filler and sand.... catch ya later.

There's always "just one more thing"

Well this one was in a box for a few years ( I believe I was still working when I started this one and that was almost six years ago so.... I'm still catching up 🥴)  The headlight mod was a walk in the park compared to this rear mod. I have all sort of junk glued in there to make the light "sockets". It's a Bondo bomb. I had these tail lights because I used the '56 300 to make a Desoto and they were still on  the table when I picked up the Del Rey. It wasn't supposed to go this way. I just wish I could remember why I boxed it. Probably the tail lights. 🤣

Looking good! Those Chrysler taillights look like they were meant to be there.

Thanks, Chris. It would have been a shame to let them sit in the parts stash, unused and unloved 🥴
