rattle can man Posted September 16 Posted September 16 I've just raided a newer release '32 Vicky for parts to complete a partial phaeton kit. The body and interior bucket are different, but everything else is identical. 1

I should have recorded some of it, but, then again, I don't think some of it was printable for mass consumption! LOL! Best Tom West story I know was he told me he threw away a large box of 1/16 Aurora test shots because he was moving and didn't think anyone would want them. While I never met him, we had several internet conversations. 1

He had the remains of one of the articulated molds to make the 1/16 engine blocks that got busted up when an employee was not paying attention and tried using it in the wrong working order. I wonder if his son might have it in his possession?

Radretireddad Posted Thursday at 02:46 AM Posted Thursday at 02:46 AM An AMT deuce tudor will complete the series in my stash. Even though I own all the Revell iterations, I still enjoy the simplicity and versatility of the AMT lineup. 2

I only had the pleasure of meeting Tom West once, when I picked up a donation he was making (mostly literature, etc.) to the Model Car Builders Museum back in 2007. He was indeed a fine gentleman with an outstanding resume. 2
Mark Posted Thursday at 04:41 PM Posted Thursday at 04:41 PM I wish I'd picked up some of the prints of Tom West's cutaway drawings back when he offered them! 2

I remember that sitting in his living room, with tons of his 1/16 funnies he was producing for Racing Champions at the time. Sure miss him every time I go to the Hot Rod Reunion.

Yes, that was a last minute addition to his donation. I was getting ready to leave when I spotted on a shelf in his garage. In awe, especially as I had recently built the kit, I recognized it right away and asked about it. He said, "Okay, the Museum might as well have this as well." It felt like I had a piece of history in my hands - definitely a window into a different way of designing models than how it's done today! Hard to let it go, but I got to hang out with it for a few days before shipping it off to the Museum and managed to take a whole slew of photos. 5

It looks decidedly toy-like, and seems to depict a cartoonish 2 door hardtop. Presumably the kit contents will actually be the ubiquitous MPC Spirit of '57 kit, which is a 2-door sedan body? Just a stylized image, I'd assume its the same old, same old.. Edited yesterday at 04:48 PM by Rob Hall 2
stavanzer Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago (edited) Here is the MPC Chevy Flip Nose. The Blue Glass will be nice to have, and the decals should be neat. I expect the Plastic to be identical to what is show in this review. BTW, the Chassis and engine in this kit are exactly the same as the MPC Flip Nose '53 Ford Pickup. MPC getting double use of of the same tooling. Edited 22 hours ago by stavanzer Added more Information, for context.

Yeah, I was wondering if anyone might be expecting a catoonized model (like I’ve been seeing in 3D prints), and be disappointed when they find the old ‘57 flip nose in the box.
