Background:

I do love a good boxy JDM VIP car, and this somewhat rare kit and somewhat obscure/odd looking car were irresistable. Junction Produce make some of the more balanced body kits that are VIPpy enough to look good without looking like a parody.

Pros:

Cool subject. Everything fits together without problems. Not much cleanup, nicely detailed interior.

Cons:

The "eyebrows" over the lights are impossible to get off the sprue without breaking them. The clear parts could be a bit more clear and shiny - they show the age of the kit more than anything. On mine - the body was/is twisted by a few mm. A few more seperate parts would make life easier for painting. No engine.

Verdict:

Good. Can't imagine anyone having any problems with this one. Pretty standard stuff for Aoshima' VIP car range.

Build notes:

Built over about 3 weeks in August/September 2025. Painted with Humbrol Teal/Purple "Multi Effect Paint", AKA flip-flop paint. The interior is a mixture of various Tamiya greys. Changes to the standard build: Changed wheels to Aoshima 20" BBS LM. Omitted some of the aero parts. Aftermarket carpets. I'm not entirely convinced that flip-flop teal/purple is the best flip-flop, but it suits this car. It looks better in real life, in photos it just looks like there's a red object nearby casting/reflecting into the car. I'm really happy with the result, the wheel change in particular gives it a lot more presence.
