1959scudetto Posted September 17 Posted September 17 (edited) 1966 was the last year for the “big bangers” in the British Sportscar Championship which consisted of 7 races: Denny Hulme – driving Sid Taylor’s Lola T70 Spyder - took the championship by winning the first 5 events beating Chris Amon, Bruce McLaren, Graham Hill, Jackie Stewart, Brian Redman and many others – the last 2 races of the series were won by John Surtees. I had a simple partially started 1/24 Frog kit at hand which is in fact the crude 1/25 amt slotcar/static kit and tried to replicate as good as possible the winning car of the 1966 Daily Mail International Trophy in Silverstone. Here are some pics of the original (all from the Mike Hayward collection): With a few modifications and add-ons (see my WIP) it turned out like this: A few touch-ups with paint will be necessary on the roll-bar, otherwise it is done ! Rich Chernosky Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Very nice conversion Helmut. Your attention to detail has really paid off on this one. Very well done. The period photos were a nice bonus. 1 1
Dave B Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Great build Helmut, you certainly did the old kit justice!! If I can get my Tamiya slot car body looking as good I'll be happy. Dave B 1
