'15 Lamborghini Huracan

Hi  

Time to start another build! Porsche is done and Firebird is almost done (i promise ). So what should i build next.... Felt like i should do another boring supercar build. I'll take it as a kind of warmup build for the upcoming Revuelto. I also have the infamous Huayra at the bottom of my stash - that one really scares me. I also have a really cool paint for it, but i just don't dare to try it yet. Maybe one day. If i can put that thing together, then i've earned the right to call myself not a beginner anymore.... i think. But enough of that rambling  

About this build, so i've already built the Gallardo, the Murcielago and also the Aventador. So the Huracan should fit right in. So this is what i'm going to build - The Gallardo's younger sister, the Huracan!  


Kit itself is from Aoshima. Seems like a nice quality kit. Seems like its not the easiest to put together, but i'll try my best. Paint wise, i guess the red or black should look really cool on it. Or yellow? Maybe even orange? But then again, wheres the fun in that? So it won't be none of those.  

So lets see how this one goes.

I will definitely be following along with interest, might be the inspiration and motivation I need to get my stalled LBWK Huarcan back to the bench for completion.

So, about this kit...... I haven't had that much experience with Aoshima kits, but some things stand out to me. First, the body - whilist the revell likes to mold its bodies as a single unit, the aoshima likes to make them as multi piece parts. As for the aoshima, its not always obvious how the parts supposed to glue together. Revell is easier - theres usually a rather large glue area or lip - just put the glue here and push the part there - no biggie. Aoshima isnt that way. The lip or area you supposed to put the glue on is very small (or there isnt one at all). So first, i layed down all the body parts to see what goes where:


Another issue is that the instructions calls for the bodypanels to be glued on after the paintjob. I don't like it. I like to glue most of the body parts before paint - this just gives it a cleaner look in the end. But it takes a lot of testfitting and planning to make sure the kit will still go together. So this is what i did - a lot of testfitting. I'm pretty much sure i can glue the front bumper and sideskirts on without issues. The rear bumper must be glued after the paint or else the taillights wont go in.  


Then the panel gaps..... aoshima usually has them pretty well done. But not on this kit They were really narrow and shallow. So definitely needed some touchups. So i grabbed my trusty old scribber and went to town. 


Wasn't as easy as it looks. Scribber jumped out at one place so will have to do some putty work later on.

     
But still, i really do like the Huracans. Should fit right in with its two sisters (well, almost)

Usually the aoshima kits doesn't have engines in them. Well, atleast based on my limited experience with them. But seeing a full engine on this one was a nice surprise


Its not the best looking engine, but still, its a fully molded one. One can do lots of awesome stuff with it. Sadly i'm not that skilled


But it looks pretty awesome inside the engine bay


So yeah, pretty cool surprise



Also the sidemirrors in this kit is in two pieces. I don't know why - seems like its just for making it more complicated than it has to be. So, i definitely need to glue them before any paint. But how to do it so they don't look off once everything is painted?

Easy - just take a blob of bluetac and stick it inside the body


That way, you can securely stick the stem? to the body


Then you can glue the mirror on to the stem


And repeat on the other side. And voila! You have a nice and symmetrical mirrors that you can just pull off from body and ready for a paintjob :D

Wow! Almost two months without any updates. I've been lazy lately. Time to get up and do some work. 

So, started working on the interior. Ideally i would like the endresult look like a clean and refined supercar. No fancy modifications, no spoilers, no youtuber-kids tuning. Just a classic lamborghini. But then again, i don't want to make it too boring. So decided i'm going with the two tone interior. So painted it in satin black. Seats got a nice coat of flat brown



Really like how it turned out. Looks like a dark toffee chocolate.


Also painted the exhaust manifolds


And brake rotors got a coat of paint too. Still a long road ahead, but its getting there

The interiors of modern supercars are quite fun to build Theres loads of buttons and complicated edges to paint. Really fun to do. 

So, first did some painting of the doorpanels. Painted the armrests in brown, the speaker grills in gloss black and did a bit of silver detailing. Came out pretty okayish - the brown turned out a bit sloppy, but it doesn't bother me that much


Then it was time for some real fun The center console. Went i bit overboard with it, but oh well So, first painted the armrest in brown, then added some gloss black around the buttons. Then did the silver detailing.


Still a long way to go, but looks pretty neat already

Well, lets continue doing some work on the interior I kinda love supercar interiors - they just look so cool. Like a spaceship

Taped up the dash (i know, its a bit overkill, but i can't help it ) 


Then did some painting and clearcoating


And testfitted it into the tub

The Lambo is coming along very nicely. I love the shade of brown used in the interior.

Dash is done


Steering wheel too


Did some flocking and glued the center console in


Then the dash went in


Clamped and glued the seats


And finally glued everything in place

Bodywork time!


Was thinking of what color should i paint it... Definitely didn't want anything too loud or obnoxious so yellow-purple-red etc was off the table. Wanted a bit darker and menacing look. It is an italian supercar after all. So sprayed the body with some primer and did a session of wetsanding  
    

Then another coat of primer and another wetsanding session with higher grit paper.


Then the third coat of primer And you guessed it - another wetsanding session


And finally the paint itself  As its called the deep and powerful grey - the Grigio Lynx

Lets continue with this build The Revells Revuelto should come out next week so i need some room on my bench. 

So, theres two versions of rear decklid in this kit - i'm going with the glass window version. The other one is with black louvres (i think its what they're called). That means that the engine is visible through the glass. So wanted to add the plug wires to it so it doesn't look as plain as it is. So grabbed some wires and started glueing.
 

Also added a line to the intake manifold's underside


And did the same on the other side too.


Then painted the intake manifold's cover. Added some bare metal foil strips and painted the throttle bodies in silver.


Then added the decals


Testfitted them together Looks pretty neat


I also painted the brake disks and added the decals too


Also added the decals to the body Will leave them to dry for a day or two. Then its time for some clearcoating and putting this thing together
