Technics Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Blasted through most of the build to have it sit upright. No super detailing mechanical mastery, just a badass exterior is my aim Tough kit.. part count and detail is very nice but on the chassis, interior, cage nothing fits really. Lots of ideas seeing it standing, so mean! It’s almost a square, so wide. Stance is wip. There wasn’t any kit decals included in this barn find so I’ll do something different or make stencils. 6
Dr Cobra Posted October 2 Posted October 2 Indycals decals has a few different decal sets for this kit 1
Technics Posted October 2 Author Posted October 2 My favourite part outside of completing a project.. Primer! Started to slowly working my way through the body. 4
Technics Posted October 2 Author Posted October 2 (edited) Having worked the body from its various molded in deviations that I could pick out I set out to try something different next/ I am ecstatic how the upward facing surfaces look. I aim to mostly unchange those. The sides need re working and or a convincing soot layer. They differ as I varied my approach to side surfaces. Here’s the status today and some of the process pictures. All the steps were really fun to do. Loose plan is to remake the box art livery with masks but faint and faded. A car that’s aged since its 80s IMSA glory but used by a privateer today. @Dr Cobra they do, but not this particular one so I took it as a challenge to do something different and diy 🙂 Edited October 2 by Technics 8
Technics Posted October 6 Author Posted October 6 (edited) @SpeedAndViolence Thanks buddy! A bunch of small improvements and progress took place. First time doing the surface degradation and such detailed masks so I am pleased with the progress. Most logos and shapes had to be re worked or made from reference. I will kick back anything that sticks out too much visually. I have the smallest cheapest Cricut Joy. The paint colours reference the factory colours more than the exact race car. Desaturated / burgundy red over a silvery colour. Edited October 6 by Technics 3
Dave Van Posted October 6 Posted October 6 Cool ideas with the stencils. I also make decals for a few of the Revell IMSA Mustangs and T/A version.....FYI 1
Technics Posted Monday at 06:21 AM Author Posted Monday at 06:21 AM (edited) Progress First pass of sand and glue on the rubber. Might get a round of stones and markings added still. Wheels were de chromed, not painted yet. Comparison shot two worked two untouched. Painting, wet sanding back and matte clear. Mocked up what I have to see it on its wheels. Offset and stance is tape so it’s not 100%. There’s various things I’d improve but I’m really happy about the look. Something way outside my comfort zone and multiple first tries here. It will liberate future builds immensely. Edited Monday at 06:21 AM by Technics 2
