magicmustang Posted October 1 Posted October 1 (edited) Got this on pre order from Auto World. Been wanting to build one for years but not willing to pay Ebay vintage prices. Was originally released in 1969 and now it's available again. Made some changes to the kit. Added a dash panel, narrowed the rear body some so the slicks would fit, lowered the rear wing and put it on a single post, and lowered the roll bar brace rails. Used the white plastic tires (thought they looked the '60's better) and had to narrow the front mag hubs to fit inside the fender wells. Also raised the header pipes above the lower frame rail instead of below it. Finally, I sanded down the rear fender flares. Paint is Testors Nassau Blue rattlecan lacquer, with a coat of clear gloss and a coat of Future. Was one of my Holy Grail kits, now it's in the display case. Comments welcome. The body is the reworked AMT Astro 1 Chevrolet experimental cat. The line is where the Astro 1 body was hinged to lift open. Edited October 2 by magicmustang 2

Corvair...not Corvette. I have the original kit and have seen the real car in person so that someday I can build it competently. I might get the new kit to have some fun with. 1

Have an original kit too, and I did not look at the box. Actually, the box calls it a Chevrolet experimental car, and it's powered by a Corvair engine. Edited October 2 by magicmustang 1
